Mod Without Editor?

hey,

im a complete newbie at modding on this game....basically i cant get the editor becuase im running vista so it wont install...
so i was wondering if you can mod stuff like without the editor...
just changeing files and things?

You can mod a lot of stuff trough coding and tweaking. like new game modes are mostly made without the editor. Maps are impossible to make without editor though

Same thing with XP64.

right click the installer and go to properties then to compatability and change it to XP
