preferably yes, but it shouldnt matter much with SOundcards.
If u wanna install a new Graphicscard its essential to remove the old drivers first > unplug old card > install new card > install drivers

as a rule of thumb: uninstall driver with add/remove > boot safemode, run Drivercleaner > unplug old card > install new card > install drivers

If you want to install a new Graphicscard driver its good to run Drivercleaner in safemode first, especialy if u want to revert to a older version of a driver.
