Help needed fast please please . need a removal program

Guys

I am trying to install a Audigy Platinum EX sound card on my rigg but i am having trouble getting ridd of my old on board sound drivers .

The on board sound drivers are Realtek AC97 Audio .

I have tried the add/remove program files and have dowloaded the latest edition drivers direct for Creative for the sound card . Its not working but i asssume its a driver conflict .

Can someone point me in the right direction of how to get ridd of my old drivers and how to make the new card work thanks .

first you need to disable the onboard sound in your BIOS. < check your manual if u dont know how to do it. If u dont have the manual, go to the site of your mainboard manufactor and Download it. Most if not all provide manuals in PDF format.

use Driver Cleaner to remove all sorts of old driver stuff.

It is essential that you disable the soundchip in the BIOS !

Ok i have Driver Cleaner on my DT now

I still cant seem to see how to turn off the sound in my bios , I cant see anything in my Manual at all .

Ok this is how you do it: WRITE IT DOWN!

restart your PC;
At the screen where your Drives are reported, (right after start) press and hold the DELETE key;
You are now in your Bios. Navigate to "integrated Peripherals", Press enter;
navigate to "AC97 Controller", press PAGE UP to change the setting to DISABLED;
Press F10 to save the setting (press y if it askes you if u want to save it)
Reboot;
Do this first and report back

Ok i run it and my Realtek 97 Audi drivers are now not showing in my Add/ Remove programs .

I still have ssome Legacy Audio drivers under the Device Manager , do i get ridd of them as well ?

Do i have to disable sound in the bios now ( im notr to good at this you can see)

Or do i intall the new drivers and hey viola !!!!

Bob , its amazing what 5 mins in the Boys room can do . I took my manul in there sat down and got ridd of last night Vindaloo .

Integrated periherals , AC97 Controller , AUTO or DISABLE .

No. You have to disable the Sound chip because its basically a PCI soundcard built in on your board. Since it cant be removed, it must be disabled.
Windows will recognize it as a device without a driver and promt you to install one all the time. It may also cause trouble if u have 2 soundcards (onboard + yor new one) installed.
report back after your BIOS adventure. There are other things to do.

Ok it has all been disabled in my Bios , god that was easy peasy .

Well done mate.
now boot into safemode. (Press F8 after the screen where your drives are reported) Run the Drivercleaner to remove the AC97 stuff. report back after that
Why Safemode: Driver cleaner needs to be run in Safemode because some files are locked by Windows running in normal mode.

Let me put it like this , my *** was on fire lol.

Ok all done , started in safe mode and run DC . Basicly i cleaned everything that was sound related . Its a very quick program!!!!!!
