but your forgetting that raptors ONLY come in sata 150. 1.5 gigs per sec. sure they got 10000 rpm but they still only transfer info half as fast as a sata2 for alot more money equalling about the same speed. when raptors come in sata 2 ill be all over em. that is when the exhorbently stupid prices of them drop. did i mention my processor is clocked to 4gigs on an AC7 pro cooler. 4.5 second load verify ftw -
Re: ha fast pc= a big *** plus for you
Man I had the same problem....i used to run everything on Medium with AA on 4 and VD on 100%. That was with my older setup. ati radeon 9800pro, 1 gig of ram and a compaq 17" CRT monitor. I sold my card to a buddy after getting my ati x1300pro 256 AGP 4x/8x card. My ram is now up to 2.5 gigs, and i'm running on a viewsonic 19" LCD. I have to set everything on medium again and i still get the occasional chop chop with swooping down with aircraft.........screw 1.3 and Dice.....I won't spend anymore money trying to get the full experience out of this game.Originally posted by Hurricane.CAD1.3 killed my performance for unknown reasons. Now I have to run on Medium.

Smart admins fix this by having the game pause 30 seconds before loading. but i don't care, more often than not, I'm first one on the map.Leave a comment:

more than 2 GB is BS, cuz it only uses 1.3 at highest, so with 4 GB u still dotn use more than 1.3 and u still dotn have any performance win dudeLeave a comment:

They are already on sale, but sold out in most placesOriginally posted by VT NerdIt looks like they'll be ahead, but those processors won't be released until September. I'm confident that AMD will answer back and regain their throne before long.Leave a comment:

I hate to say it, but Intel is the way to go right now. Even with AMD's 50% price cut, the Intel Conroes still are cheaper and better performing than AMD's lineup.
For now, Intel is the winner.... or atleast it sure does seem that way,Leave a comment:

I have a question pertaining to this...
My BF2 used to run great, no major lag on all the settings turned up
cuz i have 3 GB ddr2 ram, ati x850XT pci-e, 200gb sata hd, 3.4 ghz p4...clearly not too shabby. I also used to get the maps loaded before everyone.
But then i went on vacation for a few weeks, and ever since coming back ( a week ago) my bf2 has been unplayable at the higher settings and annoying at medium settings, so ive basically turned everything down low or off to get smooth gameplay back....wtf? Is patch 1.3 doing this (i got it right when i got back)?Leave a comment:

Spawning first is fun, I remember when playing Karkand, I would have the Hotel flag before any MEC would spawn in.Leave a comment:

RAM does make a big diffence in BF2. I would suggest the minimum to go with is 2 Gig of RAM. The best case senerio would be 4 Gig but that costs a fortune!!! If you buy 2 Gig of RAM get it from a good comoany like Corsair or Kingston.
IMHO: If you want the ultimate gaming experience, then buy matched pair (or twin) RAM chips. They are ultra low latency, and they are definitely worth the extra $$. With normal off the shelf RAM Chips they can have slightly different components or circuitry but still be sold as the same chip, and when put together do not function as efficiently as possible. Matched pairs come off the assembly line and are packaged together, so they are perfect identical twins, which does increase their overall functionality and performence.Leave a comment:

It seems that RAM is king of the first spawners. I've noticed it as well when I went from 1 to 3GB 3200 DDR. Corsair RAM came as a set of 2x1GB sticks, and there really wasn't any reason to get rid of the other RAM. I don't think it makes any difference between 2 and 3, but it's nice to be one of the first to spawn. It gives plenty of time to grab any vehicle and strategize. I like when I'm SL, and can have an objective and a close spawn for my squad to cap a flag.Leave a comment:

amd 64 3000
2gb ram
nvidia 256mb 7800gs - overclocked
My machine starts games pretty fast as well. Its usualy the only way I get a jet without someone team killing me or standing infront of my jet ... lol
I think that lots of ram makes a big difference on this game. Used to only have 512mb so jumping to 2gb increased performance dramatically.Leave a comment:

It's awsome when you finally get 2 gigs. i had 1 gig for awhile after i got the game and i got tired of the lag and waiting to get on the server so I upgraded. Being the first to spawn into the match, especially since im a tankwhore

Yeah me tooOriginally posted by GhillemanI probably need to upgrade too. I have to restart my computer and not open any programs if i want it to run smoothly.
3.2 ghz P4
2 gig ddr 3200
6600 GT
But when I do, I get in first on vanilla maps. SF maps however don't load as fast. :|Leave a comment:

Yes, as someone already said. Hard drive speed does contribute a lot towards loading.
10,000 RPM's..... SATA 3 interface, or RAID configuration will increase your hard drive speed a bunch.Leave a comment:
