BF2 for Console vs PC

I Think it might be time to hang up the pc gaming gloves and go console.

Some of the things that make console gaming very attractive.

(1) On the console side of the house at least for on line gaming purposes everyone's hardware is equal so the game play is really just based off of skill and not how good your system is compared to someone else who has lesser funds to spend.

(2) Patching of console games is almost unheard of, compared to the pc gaming industry.

(3) Troubleshooting is almost unneeded as you basically just start the console up and you can play. Trouble shooting and forum searching is really not required.


The PC in general can do so much more than gaming however I'm leaning more and more tward using the PC for just that.."everything else" but not gaming. I'm still not sure maybe what to do. Hopefully this thread will shed some light into this subject and bring out new ideas...

This is open discussion for all, any thoughts you the audience may have are very welcome.

You can modify PC games how ever you want, console you can't.

I think PC gaming will always be superior to console gaming. Consoles, imo, are more for adventure, action, fighting, and RPG games. PCs are more for FPS, strategy, MMOs, etc. PCs also play adventure, action, fighting, and RPGs. Plus, on a PC you don't have to buy a new system every 2 years or whatever. Certainly you have to upgrade your components, but you have way more choice on when, and why, and what. In the console world, they create a box containing the "latest and greatest" components (they sure as hell charge for it). Then you have to spend $50 on each game (of course, you do on the PC too :cough:. Not to mention any peripherals (controllers, memory cards, etc.). Then by the time you have a nice collection of games, and some cool controllers, it's time to buy the new system because your old one is outdated with old parts that can't run new games. You start the whole process all over again. It's one big cycle.

Don't get me wrong. Consoles are what turned me on to gaming way back when I was 7 years old. Good ole NES and Mario Bros. But as I've grown older (and Nintendo has sucked more), I've strayed from console. PCs offer a more complete gaming "package." My bias towards Nintendo might have ruined my opinion. I had Playstation. I wanted a PS2. For a while I was going to buy PS3, and then buy all the PS2 games I didn't play. I just don't have the time or the money to invest in that right now.

True.......that is an added benifit.... Note taken that does add playability to the game.

PC gaming = Awesome mods, mouse, more perepherals, patches for things that are broken, not having to use a TV to game, ability to type messages, more bragging rights.

Until a console has all those features, I'll stick (mainly) with the PC (though I will be getting a Wii, but I'd rather call it a Revolution). And when a console has all those features, guess what? It'll be a PC.

untill the xbox 360 or the ps3 have keyboard and mouse support for all the fps games, there is no way fps gaming on the console could ever be better than on pc. back in the dreamcast days, i played quake 3 with my dreamcast keyboard and mouse and dominated the game. only the pc players could be me and that was in rare cases of pc player with like, 150fps and broadband vs the 45-60fps on the dreamcast and 56k modem connected at 38-44k. so for me, no keyboard and mouse support for consoles means no support for the consoles from me.

Points 2 and 3 were covered by point 1. You are complaining that the PC world is not full of clone machines and that it has variety and competition, personally i find that a good thing since it drives the related industrys forward.
Can you imagine what would have happend without PC's? No componant or software competition leading to no advances leading to a world still full of Nes's. Technology would not have advanced far enough to allow for BF2 as it is now without the competative world of pc componants and software.

IMO:

PC:
-Playability with older games all on one machine (excluding upgrades etcetc). -More complex controls (unless ur the type that buy a kb for ps2, ur really limited to 10 buttons and 3 directional control pads)

Console:
-Superb for party games: mario party, mario karts, bomberman, winning eleven (esp when u have 2 multi-tap for 8 player gameplay, the soccer game can be quite chaotic lol)


im sure theres a lot more but im just brain ded right now lol

Conclusion: i just couldnt compare both console and pc cause they are headed in different directions due to their functionality. u couldnt really bring a tower to a frds house, hook it up to a tv and play some party games right away. Same thing applies to pc ppl where veteran fps players dun usually play fps games on a console due to the versitility of kb + mouse combo.

Playstation 3 is going to be like that. It has its own hard drive so u dont have to spend like £30 on a memory card. Also it kinda has its own modem which connects u to the internet.
