They typically know every exploit known, and will develop new ones and gaurd them as secrets. They typically use these for an edge to ensure a win.
They typically will hold practices for hours to ensure all their members know every game bending techinique that is humanly possible. IE: dolphin diving, jumping around like....like a clown i guess, c4 tossing, squad moving techinics etc. If you ever play against at top clan......you will see things, you have never seen before. Even DICE cant believe themselves, some of the things clans have done to exploit, and bend the game mechanics. (thats not me saying that, thats dice saying it...and it is quoted and can be verified via a video.
A great clan, typically down the road, usually has 2 or more members that get caught hacking. The usual story comes out, that they never knew this, or that that member was simplying, testing out said hacks, and that they NEVER used hacks in game. Course after being caught with hacks, that team typically starts dropping from their top spots and starts to lose. (odd no?) Or they simply announce they are retiring because they have lost their desires, and have no more to prove that they are number 1. (rolls eyes)
A great clan, will demand that you show up for practices, demand you play a certain number of hours a week, demand teamspeak usage while playing, either with that team or not......and all kinds of rules and regulations.
    A good clan?
Basically everything that a great clan isnt, cept the good clan, simply wants to have fun, with E- friends or real friends, without being douschbags.
I think that sums it up fairly well.
I do realize not all clans fit within my opinion of them. Just most of them.
Well put. I would absolutely rather be in a "good clan" than a "great one" .

Sorry if I've trodden on your elite league player's toes (or maybe they should be referred to as flippers or paws?!), but there was nothing in that video which deserves any sort of grandiose applause.
I know what I saw. The evidence is there to see. Constant bunny hopping and prone jumping. People hopping around each other, doing daft **** that everyone does at some point like running around a corner without looking first and into the guns of a tank, standing on a roof in the open being artilleried and not a shred of anything resembling military style tactics. To me that's not what the game's about, and if that's how they have to play to win, I'd rather not compete. It looked more like a bunny cull than a modern battlefield combat game...

Some people like realism, and others like competition.
          Nothing wrong with that.
The guy asked "what makes a clan?", I'm just showing him what competition clans are about.

            Re: What Makes a Clan?

IMO, a clan is an organized group of players whose main purpose as the clan is to compete on organized ladders and tournaments. Any "clan" that doesn't do that, is a group of players that likes to get on one team on pubs and beat on all the hapless "Pub-Noobs".

A clan is just a group of people who enjoy playing with each other. They all varie in intensity. From the uber competive, to the really laid back. I know a lot of clans focus on one (or two) games, while others are just groups of friends who enjoy gaming.

My clan is one of the later. www.factor8guild.com

For instance. I can't stand CS, but I would play it with my clan mates because I know we'd have fun. Same thing with UT. I hadn't played it in some time until I started playing with my clan mates, they made it fun again.

We have dedicated members who like to compete. They form "Fire Teams" within the clan and schedule there own practices and scrims, but the rest of us are always welcome to join in and play.

Play to win as long as it doesn't involve glitching or hacking.

                  Re: What Makes a Clan?

Honestly, watching infantry combat between 'top' clans is like watching a ****ing dance off. They bunny hop and DD over and over and over and I cant really see any actual tactics. If someone wants to point me in the direction of a clan match video that uses tactics like flanking etc, I would be very glad to see it. The only time I have EVER experienced Teamwork is in TG servers and PRMM. Clan matches and servers look stupid.

Clan tournies are excitting. And they can get your blood boiling big time.
Trouble is, the more you do it.........the more the game becomes really, really stupid.......and lame.
I used to clan......but wont do it anymore. I have no desire to learn the latest lamerola tactics. I'd rather pub.

There are tactics and lot of them. You don't see the diversions, and the lighting quick decisions. The teamwork that is required at this level of play is beyond anything that 98% of the BF2 players will ever experience.

We figured that staying friends is more important than winning in a GAME. We are spread across the country but still manage to get together in a central location 1 - 2 times a year

I encourage anyone looking to JOIN a clan to be careful. There are alot of clans that just want to WIN and will only play with what they consider LEET.
