Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Maybe we can even get snipers to have some throwing stars!
hehe that would be funny but ineffective. The truth is their will be no more major changes after 1.4. EA is probabley focusing their efforts on 2142 to make a little more money. The pistol unlock would be awsome though but than the whiners will cry about snipers being to strong and it would be nerfed:cry:
Traditionally the reason snipers prefer bolt action rifles in RL is because of their higher accuracy than autos and they can keep track of the spent brass more easily. If you have an automatic it will just eject brass all over the place and give away your position, if you were inserted into a hostile zone ti could be a potential problem. There seems to be a new movement to semi-automatics in recent years.
Bolt actions are inherently more accurate as there are less factors involved. A bolt gun does not divert gas from the propellant. A bolt gun has better barrel harmonic, and the barrel is free floated. And there is more of a direct energy transfer, as there are less mehanism to complicate the process. Also, there is something phsycological about the chambering motion of a bolt gun.
A bolt gun also facilitates custom round usage, because no energy is diverted to work the action.
What you refer to as "Automatic" are actually semi-auto. NO ONE uses a select fire weapon as a dedicated sniper weapon. Most full autos are fired from an "open-bolt", which is inherently less accurate. The reason some are going semi is that the larger calibers (.50 and above) used in the AMR (anti-material rifle) role needs to have some sort of recoil dampening system other than the muzzle compensator. Of course you can get a semi that shoots as good as a bolt............but it will also cost a 2-4 times as much. For example, the Remington 700 system that the M24 is based on will set you back around 2-3000, but a SR-25 or a PSG will go for over 10,000.
These days, both the Army and Marines are favoring the marksman concept. This is mainly a result of urban combat we see in Iraq. They carry some sort of semi auto, and have optic, but in reality, their mission essential task list (METL) is very different from that of a true sniper. Interstingly, this is very similar to the Russian concept, which resulted in the Dragunov. The key different between the Marksman and a Sniper is that the Marksman works as an integral part of an infantry unit, while the sniper has a dedicated shooter/observer role.
Brass has nothig to do with position. You round will kill before the victim hears it (bullet flies faster than speed of sound), and by the time he covers that 800m of harsh terrain to your firing position, you'd be loooong gone.

Actually Carlos Hathcock, and a couple of other people used felt fed M2 .50BMG's in Vietnam as bse defense sniper weapons. While not select fire, no, they are apable of being fired one round at a time, manually.
While not dedicated sniper rifle, the H&K G3SG/1 is a designated marksman rifle which still has it's full auto capable trigger group.

YOU GUYS NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
Jeesh, so do you. Not all sniping is 800m one shot kills then extract. Semi auto sniper rifles, like the PGS-1 do extract their brass with authority. Easily throwing the brass up to 12 feet some times.
The human eye is attracted by movement. The LAST thing you need as a sniper crew is superfulous movement.
