Server connection problems

When ever I try to join a server online , the game crashes. Please can someone help me?! These are some of the things that could be to do with the problem.

1.Our house recently got a new wireless network with all the hardware etc.
2.I haven't been online on BF2 for about 3 months (no interent access)


I have tried downloading the new patches 1.3 and 1.22 but it still crashes. I have tried creating a new account, but that dosent work. Could it have anything to do with the IP adresson new wireless network.

PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE RAN INTO THESE PROBLEMS YOURSELF, OR KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM, PLEASE HELP ME!! I HAVE ALREADY BEEN WITHOUT MY BELOVED BF2 FOR TOO LONG:cry:

when you hit 'join game' does it crash or when does it crash?

1. Next time post in the Support Forum
2. It might be your wireless network. Usually the slightest interefence can cause a lot of problems.
3. did you install the full 1.3 or the incremental? You might just want to do a clean installation of BF2.

good point...I seem to remember just installing the incremental 1.3, as I thought I had 1.22 but then when i found out I diddn't, I downloaded 1.22 and patched over 1.3 (would this be a problem?). At the moment I am running 1.22 . Should I use the incremental 1.3 and patch over?

And by the way is a clean instalation uninstalling and reinstalling the game on your computer?

By the way if you have any tips about the wireless network please say (the signal although consistent is almost always on low. The actuall software for the usb adaptor dosent work the signal is so low, so I use Windows to configure it)

Use the full 1.3 patch. There were some issues when people used the incremental 1.3.

Once you get it patched back to 1.3, when does it crash? Does it crash when you click "Join Game" after the map finishes loading and verifying or at some other time? Depending on when it crashes, you might need to turn on something like port forwarding or UPNP (if supported by your hardware) or do something else.

I've been playing on a wireless network the past couple of days and I only have 2 bars out of the 5 possible. The connection drops out occasionally, but other than that I don't have any crashes (at least not anymore than I did with a wired connection). Where is the BF2 computer relative to the router and what type of network is it (B, G, N-draft (I doubt it's N-draft))?

I just read your post right above this one and you said you had a really low signal. This is probably the cause of your problem, but I couldn't say for certain. I was going to recommend a high gain antenna or something similar to improve reception, but those will only work with a card that has a replaceable antenna (not a USB adapter). If you have an empty PCI slot and a bit of money to spend, that might fix your problem.
