Crashing on startup

I have a 2.4 pentium 4 with 1 gig of ram and a 800 XT radeon card. All drivers updated including mother board drivers. I was playing BF2 after I havn't played for a few months and I get up this morning and now it starts up on a black screen and blinks a couple of times and then crashes me back to desktop.

I have already tryed deleteing Documents settings / BF2 folder. Dosn't work at all.

Oh and I dont have an LCD i have a regular just fat monitor :P

I dont understand why no one knows the real solution to this.

Reinstall the game but DO NOT PATCH YET

then boot up in safe mode and patch the game

and boot back into windows normally once that is done and try playing

worked for me

Hello i had the same problem but how do you boot up in safe mode and do you mean reinstall the whole battlefield 2 game?

Press F8 (just stay on the key) after BIOS reporting your Drives but before windows starts.

Yes I had a problem like this, just reinstall as everone else says then run it without the patches then install patches after it works on the original version of the game.

none of this works for me. I reinstalled it normally. then i booted up in safe mode but the patcher would not load up to patch the game in safe mode.
