Re: Commanding. Why we do it.

The only times I've done it is when everyone was screaming for some one to do it.

I made no promises and did the best I could.

It was actually very fun, I've been thinking about doing it more often, but I always forget to apply, or the job has been taken already.

Only been commander on or two times, and it was always because no one else wanted to be. Needless to say, I will likely never get the badges/awards that require command time, and I won't miss them.

I would think it could be rather fun if you actually had a team that worked together and followed orders. Something like the folks over at tactical gamer.

Easy points and so I can drop arty on snipers who they are on the best rooftop possible.

I like to push prone commanders off ledges... or my teammates off the carrier.

y eah i feel like a good commander always wins the round and its cool to see a diff persepctive of the game. u dont die (unless ur one of those sh*tty commanders who flies a jet)

plus its also one of those rare oppurtunities to get to be a commander (since i nver get picked) and the rareness sparks curiosity

Because it comes naturally to me from being a veteran of dozens of RTS games.

Because it is a role like any other in the game?

Because I know our team has so much less of a chance of winning if the opponent has a decent commander, and ours has none. If we go five minutes without one, I feel obligated to take the role. Some tards still try to mutiny me, but at least they have UAV's, supplies, cars, and raining death. Oh, and a few snipers removed by four-wheeled bombs.

Re: Commanding. Why we do it.

I like commanding, especially when the enemy forces me to multi-task by defending my assets, & repelling assaults on the main base (airfield in Wake), while I pop in, & out of my commander screen, or PWN'n spec ops in Karkand, it gives me an enormous, exilarating, overwhelming feeling of accomplishment

I don't want to be commander all the time, but I don't mind being commander 1/3 of the time to satisfy the criteria for the Distinguished Service Medal

                        I have 3 so far

I push the troops in the right direction (we all get "tunnel vision"), & give my troops every advantage I can

I have over 1500hrs. playing every map, every expansion, & every booster pack, w/ every kit, & w/ every weapon, & every vehicle

I command because I am a "seasoned veteran", & like to think of myself as 1 of the masters of the modern (virtual) battlefield

I have always been a leader

However, as I am usually 1 of the "ranking officers" on my team, If I have a good commader available, I will let him command, & if there are decent team players in vehicles, I will not compete w/ them for a vehicle, but will take a squad out for some good old infantry "ground pounding"

But, if peeps are not doing their jobs, they may get "relieved of duty" LOL

I command in most of our matches, which is totally different than pub play. But there are times when we have too many on one side for 1 squad, so I'll let them get in a squad and I'll command. I've done it solo as well, either way it can be fun. I prefer VoIP servers, I always seem to get more out of the team when we're all communicating.

I do it for practice, for fun, etc...

I enjoy watching my men going to get flags and give them supplies, artillery and other stuff and give them orders :)
