hey guys i was just wondering y u apply to be commander. im sure everyone has their reasons and i would like to hear em. if for no other reason than to satisfy my curiousity. to me acting as the teams commander seems like more work than fun, especially if u repeatedly get ur assets destroyed. for these reasons i rarely apply but when i do i think im pretty decent. do tell.
Commanding. Why we do it.

To get easy points on Wake Island as Chinese commander. There, I said the truth.
Hey sassback, you have 666 armor kills. Dont get in armor anymore.

Because I like to make a good job of it, I hate seeing crap commanders, they don't spot or help their team they only UAV when they feel like it. So im helping my team, myself since I get points.

i do enjoy being in a tank or apc, but ive taken a great love of flying recently. the more significant reason though is that im by any standard a man of convience and, call it bad luck but armor is rarely around when or where i spawn. however if its there ill go for it.Originally posted by Sir. I command to get my War College Ribbon... and my second Distinguished Service Medal. I'll get my War College Ribbon first... and I'll probably command for another 30-40 hours and I won't even command again in BF2

I hate commanders that spam the radio for one opposing forces member, that isnt even near the action. LAME.
I command to earn time towards distinguished service medal and war college ribbon. Also, the commander doesn't get punkbusted for idle time. So its an easy way to play and log time without having to do much.
Misconception- Commanders get points for troops using supply drops, artillery kills, and orders being completed. All of which are false. The commander only gets points from the average of the rest of his teamates score. That is it, the only way.
Fact- Whatever kit you are playing and whatever vehicle/ mounted gun/ AA gets the time + the kills from artillery are atributed to the class/ vehicle/ mounted gun/ AA you are in. Easy way to get expert ground defense/ AA badges. Also easy way to get expert kit badges once you have the 100hrs. Just get on a 64 player server and let the arty rip.

Re: Commanding. Why we do it.
To be honest I rarely play as commander. I have played just under 10 hours as commander and I've played ~500 hours. On the odd occasion I do play as commander its because I'm fed up of not having a commander or to get my hours up to ten, for some ribbon.
I just don't find commanding interesting or fun. I might if it had more of a graphical interface because I do like stratergy games Shogun:TW and AOE2 being my favourites.

Its just having 666 in your stats.Originally posted by sassbacki do enjoy being in a tank or apc, but ive taken a great love of flying recently. the more significant reason though is that im by any standard a man of convience and, call it bad luck but armor is rarely around when or where i spawn. however if its there ill go for it.
