2142 and Rise of Alt Rank System?

Harmor had a thread going about 1.4 being the last patch. If this is the case I wonder what the future holds.

I feel DiCE will release maybe a patch or two before shifting all the support work of 2142 over to DiCE CA. Then abandon BF2 to the occasional sanctioned community map release.

The thing is, I bet 2142 is going to be the reason the Alternative Ranking System takes off because someone is going to build a hardcore Mod with all the BF2 textures/maps (including all EF, AF, and SF maps and features) for the 2142 engine. People will just move over to that like BF42/DC. I have a feeling with that mod, you will finally see an AA kit running along side the AT kit. Odds are a Mod will get more support then DiCE is showing right now, especially if 2142 is getting more patch support and stable then BF2v.

Not likely, EA/Dice said that ABR were allowed to use there ranking system on BF2 but they never did mention BF2142 and I wouldn't be surprised if they reintroduce the code that broke ABR in 1.3 for BF2142.

If you go listen to the latest BF podcast they talk to the guy behind ABR sactcom and touch on the subject of ABR for BF2142.

I'll have to listen to that, I recall something that was in the release notes of the last patch that talked about 'discouraging' the system by some process. It was vague language, but ya, you might be right there.
