Mines/Clays disappearing after death

Just been reading another thread similiar to this but thought this might warrant it's own thread.

There's been a lot of discussion about how long mines or clays last after you die, no the common concensus is "until your kit disappears, but if you pick your old kit up then they will remain where you dropped them"

Ok, just to add more confusion, i've gone sniper, died, and then gone engineer. about 4-5 minutes later i got a kill saying barz26 (Claymore) someotheplayer.

Now obviously your kit doesnt stay there that long after you die so my question is, if another player on your team picks up your kit, will the claymores stay there under your username until that player gets killed etc?

Thanks but that doesn't answer my question. I know how many you can have down and that they disappear when your kit does but do the kills go on your name if another player picks your kit up?

No, you drop clays they will last for some time or until someone hits them. They don't disappear with your kit as I've played maps, dropped clays, died, and returned later on to find them (sometimes killing myself :p)

I played a round as MEC on Oman last night...put down a string of mines on the downslope of the Village bridge and got nailed by a bomber a minute later. I respawn at the village with a different kit, take up position in the guardhouse overlooking the bridge, and my mines are still there. Lo and behold, an Abrams comes rolling over the bridge, and I already rub my hands with glee...when my mines disappear literally two seconds before the Abrams rolls over the spot.

So from that experience I'd say they last for just a few minutes after you respawn.

It's generally about 30 seconds after you respawn (I've never really timed it though)and if someone else takes your kit then I believe that it's they who get the points should the mines kill someone.

At least when I pick up a dead spec-ops kit I can blow his C4 and get the points.

I thought that this was a server side setting but I could not find it searching.

Some servers they only last 30 seconds or so, others I have seen them stay for about 3 mins.
