On Vanilla maps, I've found the best repair opportunities are on Mashtuur City. On Special Forces, Warlord is best. Create a squad for yourself called "Engy-Repair" or something similar so the Commander knows he can count on you to repair their assets versus dropping supply crates.
The way I've been able to rack up the most repairs is riding on and repairing a mobile AA (USMC Linebacker) that is driven by someone that is good in armor. The best map I've found for this is Dragon Valley. Just keep your head down and turn the wrench. It helps tremendously if the driver is a Medic so he'll automatically heal you when you take damage. I've gotten 17 repairs points in a round doing this.
