Need tips on getting engineer badge

    Hey all,

Recently i've collect all the badges i could, that is all except for the veteran repair badge. All others were easy because you usually healed/supplied/killed for the badges.. but its just way to dangerous to get 7 repair points in a round. Seeing how that every time i goto repair someone, i usually get run over, or worse - them taking off while im in the middle of a repair. Also, it takes forever to get these damn points.

Any suggestions will do. This is what im currently doing:

    * Playing on Karkand servers
    * Waiting for MEC APC's to camp hotel at beggining of the round, and repair them.

    Regards, MLP

There are already a few threads that explain how others got their veteran repair badge.

I joined a server playing Wake 27/7 recently and realised that the enemy commander was dropping cartilliry (jeeps) on our arty on the island. He aims for the arty, the jeep floats down and if it lands directly on the arty then it blows up and destroys everything along with it.

I managed to get 5 repair points for the 10 minutes or so that I was playing.

You could maybe just tank whore in Karkand as a engineer and when your tank is damaged just repair it.

You need 15 hours as engineer and 10 repair points in a round for veteran.

Best way is to get in an APC or tank and stick together, if you have an asset down, drive next to it and you will mend it without getting out of the armour. Kharkand is your best bet or Sharqi if your MEC

          i would suggest:
... playing a 64 mashtuur server and play as MEC (as in my experience their assets gets blown up more frequently) and find urself a chopper.every time ur teams assets go boom go and fix them. make sure u fly at relatively high altitude, but not too high. this way ur chopper can still take enough mg damage so u can repair ur chopper while, at the same time being less succeptable to SRAWs. this would be best done as a lone wolf.
**btw i havent earned by vet. badge yet but will be soon and this is how i intend to get mine.

Super easy to do on SF, but if you use teamwork and travel in an armor convoy with the other guy as engineer too, you can earn it in almost any map.

Also, find one of those servers where you get the crazy spec ops guy who loves blowing assets.

Oh glitchs are fine. It's exploits that aren't.

So what was this magic way then?

I hope it doesn't involve driving your Humvee into some water and then jumping into the back to repair it? :)

Yeah, I got mine on Warlord. The enemy spec ops just kept coming back every time I repaired the commander assets. Still took me the entire round though.

best tip - dont bother. it is virtual impossible in normal gameplay, all that drive in armoured column does not work - map with lots of armour on map means, that the oponent has the great firepower, and you dont last long enough. i got my on daquing oilfield driving in the bh and later in a jeep following our tanks. i tried for it few times that day and oh my, it was frustrating.

a side note - i remeber a member of this board, rombaft was his name - he gathered almost 600 repair points in one or two days. and when i asked HOW?!?! he claimed he whored for repair points... decide yourselves what he did to get that many points

this is how statpadding works, and this is how youll need to perform to get that expert engineer [or, i hope, dice is going to tripple the repair point gathering speed]

Yeah, you don't get repair points for repairing your own tank.

I got my expert repair badge on a Warlord as an Insurgent. The SAS took over the palace and kept blowing up our assets. I spent pretty much the entire round repairing. I was always in a vehicle. It makes you repair nearby things quicker. I ended up with 25 repairs points. Since then I've gotten over 20 repairs in a single round a few other times. I'm an expert you know... lol.

I've played with rombaft, he helped me get my helo badges by flying for me. 600 repairs in a a week seems pretty ludicrious to me.

Re: Need tips on getting engineer badge

I managed to get veteran repair way back in Nov '05. I was defending TV on Sharqi, and the enemy just kept blowing up the assets. It took nearly 45 minutes, and I kept getting pissed that he kept blowing them up, until the silver badge popped up.

Expert, is a different matter altogether. The rate at which engineers gain repair points is too low. Even lowering it to 20 is too much I think, unless there is "help" I did discover that by wrenching very slowly can you get 2 points per asset. By that I mean, turn the wrench once, wait two or three seconds, wrench once, wait two or three seconds, rinse and repeat. I tried it on single player, and was able to get two points every time. I had read a thread on another board that claimed you could "squeeze" out 3 or 4, but I was only able to get a maximum of 2 per asset. Tell your commander, (that's if he ever pays attention, or understands English) that you'll repair his assets, do not drop crates on them. I've spent entire rounds waiting to wrench the assets and it never happens. Even after telling him I'd repair assets, he'd drop a crate on them. Of course, I'd grenade it, and repair it myself.

When I got my expert engineer combat badge after 100 hours, I had about 270 repair points. I have over 350 hours now, and it took 250 hours to get my 730 for the Meritorious Service medal.

Bottom line is, you need to stay near the assets for the entire round. Wrench slowly. If no one goes for the assets, then try again some other round. Getting 2 points per asset is the key, I think. I'm sure there are better maps for this, but for me, being MEC on Oman, I find enough times that Spec ops drive in in a buggy, plant C4, BOOM, then haul butt out. Well, if he can get 3 assets down at one time, there's 6 points. Only 4 more until veteran.

Personally, I think 20 is still to many for expert without having someone "help" you. For me, it is the hardest badge to earn.

I don't understand the point scoring system, drop 4 bags for medic or support
= 4 points, revive someone, takes 1 second to do = 2 points. Spend 45 seconds mending a downed artillery to benefit the whole team and leaving your self open to getting shot = 1 maybe 2 points at the most.

                            How does that work.!!!!

well, its only 10 repair points. if u dont want to be rolled over while repairing. jus get in a vehicle and get close to the guy u want to repair. its the same. 20 repairs in a round is the killer. i cant get it still.
