Re: New ROE
I've stated the last 2 months that the ROE was getting updated, and yes it's based on my old ROE..
the effectiveness of the BFROE has nothing to do with our name on the ROE..
so lets everyone please take the time to read and learn this new ROE as some of the finer points of BF2 have changed..

If you had read the old BFROE it is nearly exactly the same as the new version dated today, I see few differences. That version was written by IndianScount and other BFROE members I believe, then approved by EA.Originally posted by <EsP>FuryThat's interesting did BFROE boys and IndianScout step on someones toes thay are not even mentioned.Leave a comment:

OK, if you have a 64 player map and limit the players to 16 withOUT a time limit, the rounds are going to take a long time and the score is going to be "HIGH POINTS"...
WTF, over? Please pardon my frustration, but this sort of conflict within the ROE is ridiculous!
Is there any section anywhere in the ROE that specifies the amount of tickets a ranked server may/may not run? If not, then how can they say players may not play on high points servers? Again I ask, WTF???
What's with all the garbage that's getting put into the ROE that limits tactics on the battlefield? No jihad jeeps? Next thing ya know it'll be "well if this is Tuesday and we're on Mars a thousand years ago then you can only throw medkits at me or use your wrench on me or you will get banned/reset.
EDIT: Yes, my post was not all that well thought out or cohesively written. It was written in frustration and anger at the ridiculousness that is becoming "BF2".Leave a comment:

Well they just contradicted themselves. They probably heard the term "high points servers" and didn't even do the research to find out what it means. So, what are we supposed to do if high points servers are legal but illegal in the ROE?

who cares about these rules... come on people the server admins make their own rules everyone knows that,,, server to server you will get different types of games play.... Like freedom of speach.... It's freedom of play....... It's a game remember not real life.
So keep it that way!!!Leave a comment:

It went like this:
- mines used to kill everyone and engineers were not happy with blind idiots that drove over them. The blind idiots complained that engies block all the roads.
- DiCE "fixed" the troubles by making the mines destroyable. And practically useless (the only effective way to stop a tank was an ambush - hide a mine somewhere and when a tank comes close throw a grenade on mine)
- ofc it didn't work so they made the explosives unexplosive again. Because it wasn't a change big enough they added sv.friendlyFireWithMines options, setting it to 0 by default. And so they made them SMART!!!1! The mines and explosives don't get triggered by the friendlies anymore, the claymores (every sniper has 6 of them) cover all the ground near flags.
- the number of claymores is reduced again
Yeah, I play engineer a lot...
IMO, the correct method would be:
- friendly fire is ON
- when a teammate drives over the mine/walks over claymore and dies he loses a life (no revive possible) and one ticket because of his death. The engi/sniper's teamscore is reduced by 2, no additional teamdamage/vehicledamage/punish.
And while we're here:
- the mines (claymores are small enough, with a too big range) should be invisible to enemy team, spotted by their commander/snipers
- their should be different colored warning signals for the friendliesLeave a comment:

3.2.1 Players may not use or exploit game mechanisms to artificially boost their score ("stats padding") and Server administrators may not knowingly allow or encourage this activity on their servers.Originally posted by BioDiaperX1.4.1 Custom maps are never permitted on ranked servers, although we do permit map sizes to be defined independently of maximum players.
So high points servers are legal now?
This would include but not limited to:
(a) Using tag teams to take turns to kill and revive each other in turn (using knives, pistols, etc.)
(b) Playing on Knife and/or Pistol only Servers
(c) Playing on Knife only Servers
(d) Playing on “High Points” Servers
I guess they need to further "define" what they mean by high point servers...Leave a comment:

Re: New ROE
Harmor, I may get mixed u p in the patch versions but I'll try to remember correctly... :)
1. AT mines used to kill everyone.
2. Engineers complained 'cos while punishing doesn't take any points from you, it usually results in getting you kicked (default is 3 kicks)
3. DiCE added a server variable that allowed servers to to make mines either FF on or off.
4. The change also affected claymores, something which wasn't asked for and a LOT of people complained about.
5. DiCE's solution was to release the next patch with sv.friendlyFireWithMines set to ZERO by default and EA state that they prefered servers with sv.friendlyFireWithMines set to zero but left it up to the admins to decide.
All it really means is that when the 1.21 server patch came out, all the servers that had made the setting for mines to make them friendly had to go back and change it again as the patch's default setting wasn't what they wanted.Leave a comment:

I really don't understand this: does it mean this rules must be stated in the loading screen or is the typical statement "for server-rules check www.hardcore1337progamzorz.com/our_funny_rules.html" also enough?????Originally posted by graag[...]The servers has to state the rule before the player starts to play, the punishment for breaking such rule can be a kick or a ban from server.

Re: New ROE
No.
Nothing is being changed concerning mines or claymores. Servers owners have the option to turn tk on or off but EA recommend that it be set to tk (i.e. FF off for mines). It's just the first time it's been written down in the ROE (as opposed to being mentioned in the patchnotes of 1.21)
This, in the real world, doesn't really mean anything as it's all up to the server owner.Leave a comment:

Wait are you saying that ranked servers MUST have TK settings when friendlies go over your mines?Originally posted by pteganA big mess is correct. I rarely see claymore spamming but be prepared for a LOT of engineers to get 3 punishes due to teamkills and being kicked from server after server after server....
As it's a serverside setting the ROE can't do anything about the way it works now anyhow.
Does that mean Claymores also TK now?
So if I strap c4 to a 'slow moving vehilce' its ok?Originally posted by graagIt's the wording that counts, the "official rules" don't look very official if you use words like vehicle whoring and jihad jeep in them.
As for jihad jeep, eee, C4-ramming
- it's a "In-House" rule. Some servers could use it, others won't. The servers has to state the rule before the player starts to play, the punishment for breaking such rule can be a kick or a ban from server.Leave a comment:
