Yeah, Carrot X has a certain ring to it. Not so sure about the smooth interface bit tho. Telling Carrot he's got a smooth interface might give him the wron idea.

Ya, I liked the smurf thread. I took to calling people smurfs when on Ventrilo with my clan. (only to my clan not to the insult of others.)

I can't believe I've never read the smurf thread, it was hilarious. Not as funny as me thinking there'd be no way on earth there'd be a Smurf thread tho then finding out there was a MASSIVE one.

I use muppet as an (friendly) insult. If someone tk's me or whatever obviously by accident I'll call them a muppet and they'll generally laugh it off.

the first post was a sensible thread starter. it suddenly beacame off topic and is now a worthless thread. sigh....

Yes I agree to some point about using the search but when you search for example jet flying it will come up with loads of topics no doubt on the subject. However when some members place in the title for the main subject it might say

1 how do I
2 Question
3 What can I

So the person just ends up looking at the pages finding out that someone might have mention the word jet once or has nothing to do about the subject heading. I tend to place in the title How do I fly a jet for example. This makes the next person who uses the search to locate the information much quicker.

Also in the forum rules it states 'Newbies should be treated with respect even if they ask a question that has been answered a dozen times before, simply refer them to the proper thread that answers their question and encourage the use of the forums search feature.'

But once more searching for the question when a mass of pages for example I search for dogfight and the search came back with 333 pages on the subject would you read all of them all? Even so people tend to never give a good title. The search for dogfight came back with titles such as Just wondering about people game play, Why is PLA under play and Favourite victim. What has these titles got to do with dogfight. I know it is the main body of the text. But this is why people tend to not search and only the first few pages will be looked at much like a search engine people will pick a subject that is related and will not search 100,000's of web pages.

i agree but the search feature isn't exactly the best. i always search before i start a new thread but most of the stuff that comes up has nothing to do with what i searched for. once to test it i typed in a title of one my threads word for word. to me it would make sense for the thread with the most matches to show up first. instead of my thread with the word for word search 2 pages of unrelated stuff showed up. the one i searched for showed up on page 3. if i search and don't find what i'm looking for by page 2 or 3 i start a new thread. just because it's a topic that has been discussed before doesnt mean the person didnt search. on the other hand some people don't but you never really know.

Worthless? The smurf thing was hilarious. And carrot needed to be called out as he lives in Shinaniganistan. I doobt you read the whole thread anyway. That being said we're free to discuss the OP's point.

perhaps if the thread starter had done a search, he would have realised there have already been threads created about our great search feature
