    How do you control when you drive?

    What do you use when driving a tank, APC or jeepy?

    My system is to hop in the vehicle and while I am buckling the seatbelt reach down and pick up my Logitech RumblePad with my left hand. I have set the left trigger to forward and the left stick to left right and front back. My right hand still controls my view/gun with the mouse. My mouse thumb controls the Mic switch.

    wow, that's too much for me. I just use WASD/mouse with everything I do.

    I even get compliments on it when I fly, because apparently to be good at flying you must have a joystick?

    Funny thing is, sometime in sept of last year I actually bought one, and I fly like a godamn noob with it lol.

        Ground Vechiles = Mouse Keyboard
        Helis = Mouse Keyboard
        Jets = I suck at it, and cant get good w/ mouse keyboard, so I am going to say Joystick even though I dont have one.

          For a guy who LOVES games like WRC, Colin McRae Rally, Gran Turismo, theres only one way to drive... With a Logitech Steering Wheel, in rally style, jumping into turns with a powerslide.

              i have a racing wheel, so i use that
              im probably the only person who does, but i can drive slower than full speed and turn less than a full turn (full is your only option w/ keyboard) makes driving way more fun

                  I use a the keyboard for driving, the keys are J and M (forward, back) and , and . (left and right). I have NO idea why I set it up like that but its been the case since 1942 and I'm stuck with it.

                      i'd never think to switch from mouse/kb when getting in a vehicle...bleh. mouse/kb for all ground vehicles and helos. If I get in a jet (very rare), I blow the dust off of the Saitek joystick...

                          I use mouse + keyboard when driving vehicles. When I hop in, I immediately switch to 3rd person view. My mouse has a thumb button I have mapped to switch back to 'cockpit' or first person view for a tank shell battle.

                            I'll jump on the mouse/keyboard bandwagon and add to Tom's post. I play with an MX510 mouse which has two thumb buttons. One I have set to cockpit view, the other is 3rd person.

                            I played GTA with my rumble pad at first, but later switched over to mouse/keyboard for the increased weapon accuracy. It took me a while to relearn how to drive using the keyboard, but by the time I started BF2, it was second nature.

                              i don't understand why people use the 3rd person view for driving buggies and hummers....

                              you get much more situational awareness in first person once you learn to use the mouse while driving. This way you can look around corners before turning. Then during the turn - move the mouse in the opposite direction of the turn until the hood is facing where you wanted to turn. It's just like driving in real life.
