Another Binding question

I have a Cordless Logitech MouseMan and the button 3 on the side is set to "unassigned" in the software for the mouse. Anything else simply doesn't register in BF2.

So when I bind it on the controller settings menu in BF2, it appears successfully as "Mouse 3" but when I play in the game, it doesn't do anything. I have read several posts, but they are mostly for having trouble getting the key binded. I am able to bind it on the settings screen though.

anyone else have this problem?

Try to assing 'keystroke' in your mouse software, then bind that key in the games settings...

Sorry, I meant "keystroke" not unassigned. I'm not sure why I said that.

But anyway, it is set to "keystroke" and appears to be correct in the game settings "mouse 3"

any other ideas?

I think what DooDah meant by assign a keystroke in the mouse software was to assign say ‘Z’ to this side button in Setpoint/MouseWare if you wanted to use it for prone for instance, and then have this key assigned to the action you desire in the BF2 controls section which of course ‘Z’ is already assigned. So think in terms of the desired keystroke rather than the mouse button.

I’m using a Logitech MX1000, 10 buttons to put to use, I decided to assign the majority of them to weapons for quick access, of course Setpoint doesn’t yet have application profiles so the button assignments only apply to BF2 so as a workaround to this you have two options, either use Logigamer or my preferred options is UberOptions; an extension to the existing Setpoint application allowing you to customise your button configuration based on application running.

Cool, thanks but is it not possible to keep the side button for things like "Back" when surfing the web or whatever aside from gaming, then when you go into the game it re-assigns it to whatever you make it in the settings? That seems like what the game settings should be for anyway.

It is possible to keep the side button at it's default function in windows, however you will have to use UberOptions or Logigamer. For some reason Logitech don't offer application specific profiles by default in Setpoint so UberOptions is your best bet, it extends the functionality of Setpoint like I mentioned in the previous thread. You will be able to assign an app, in this case "BF2.EXE" and then specify the buttons assignments thus keeping the default "Back" in windows for surfing the web. It's entirely context sensitve and works perfectly. Default settings stay the same and when you are in BF2 it applies the new button assignments you've chosen.
