Guide to using Battle Recorder

My clan is trying to create a short film, eventually expanding it into a movie, but we need some help on out battlerecorder.

How does it work?

If we are on a battlerecorder equipped server, how do we record, and where does the file end up?

What program do we use to watch the file or where do we film? (We have fraps and filming software)

We have some pretty proffesional editors, so the actual movie making is taken care of, we just need to find out more about recording.

i actually can't answer your question, sorry. but if you have a bit of experience using fraps maybe you can answer something i've been wondering if you don't mind...

Im haven't been huge into making movies but i would like to start getting into it. i have fraps installed, but i use the resolution 1280*1024 while playing, but fraps can only record at a maximum of 1152*864, so because im using 1280*1024, fraps records at half resolution and well....it looks crap, you can't read nametags n stuff cause it literally cuts out pixels etc etc.

it looks like im just gonna have to change my resolution to 1152*864 to use fraps. do you know of anyway to even make it record at 1152*852 while im playing 1280*1024? or any other software that does record at 1280*1024?

Battlerecorder records everything in the whole round, imagine a free camrea in game. As for where the files are stored, they are stored on the server it will be different for every server provider

There has to be a thread on this. Everything is under the "community" tab in-game. Once you download the demo (recorded) file from the server, you launch it, and the round unfolds in front of you. You can free-cam anywhere. To avoid any game messages, bring down the console ( ~ ) and type "renderer.drawhud 0". A 1 will turn it back on. To avoid player names, without using battlelauncher and messing with your game files, simply don't lock on to any players (alt-fire, or space). Use your mouse, WASD, crouch, and prone keys to move the camera. Sprint key to slow it down. Double tap W to move forward fast (to get across the map above turtle speed). If you have a joystick, you can make finer movements by assigning your X and Y to the same as your WASD.

It doesn't. It records the happenings during the round. Use Fraps to record.

I play at 1280 x 1024 and record with Fraps at 1/2 res. See Echo Squad: Sharqi Liberation.

You need to collect the file to the allocated place or ftp you've uploaded it to. Contact your server admin to check in the CC.

What program do we use to watch the file or where do we film? (We have fraps and filming software)

Battlefield 2. Place it in My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\demos
Now goto the Community Tab when you open Bf2 and click it to play it.
Open Fraps to record what you see ingame for your clips, then organise them with your filming software.
