I don't agree with lowering the requirements to the same as helos or planes, but 400 hours is insane. Maybe 200 for expert would be better.
You may find it riduculous but that does not make it any less true. A lot of people that have played since day 1 have a lot of time. This is not counting whether you want to try and use armor as opposed to using transport or aircraft. It does take months to get 100 hours in Armor, that is why the medal was changed to 100 hours. What is even more ridiculous is that I think you are looking at the old criteria. You need 100 hours now, and yes it has been 13 months since the game came out.

I'm guessing what DICE/EA figured was that players would probably not try to get *all* the awards possible.. instead, if you're really into helis/jets/armor and spend most of your time in vehicles from one of those categories, that your time and effort is recognised over a long period of time. 100h, 150h or whatever in one of those categories, is probably fairly reasonble if you used a vehicle in one of those categories *most* of the time.. Then again, most players don't dedicate themselves to 1 particular category of vehicle, so who the heck knows.. Just a thought.

The Armour badge was not adjusted because DICE forgot to. Yes it really is that simple. If they intended to keep the Armour badge at 400 whilst lowering Heli and Jet to 150, they would have reflected this in the medals, ie kept the armour medal at 250 hours and 10,000 kills instead of reducing it to the same requirements as the other 2 medals.

If you question the idea of whether DICE would be sloppy enough to make a mistake of this nature I have 3 words - Airborne Specialist Ribbon - A ribbon the Executive Producer of Special Forces, AJ Marini, thought you could obtain by flying a Helicopter.

Yup... I think they forgot too. It's ridiculous that the time requirement for the armour medal is now the same as the veteran badge... Medals should outrank badges - even expert badges.

Bear in mind that vet transport is now only 25 hours for a global requirement. Anyone who says that the armour requirement is higher than aviator/helicopter because there are more tanks around than jets and choppers needs to remember that transport vehicles hugely outnumber armoured vehicles. By that logic, transport should therefore have the highest time requirement in the game.

Except transports are just that.. transport *TO* somewhere.. not exactly something you want to be spending alot of time doing. Not sure if many ppl would want their claim to fame to be that they can drive a bus load of ppl around better than anyone else! :P Then again, nailing a bunch of dudes by running over them in a jeep sure is satisfying!

LOL!! "Expert taxi-driver" badge... Heheheh. I know what you mean, but I also know a few people who have transport as their most-used vehicle type. I have transport as my second-most-used: about 25-ish hours in armour and 20 or so in transport...

I know people don't normally tend to cling onto a jeep the same way they do with a tank, but the people that aren't dedicated users of any particular vehicle can certainly rack up the hours in transport without even trying to, purely because they're so prolific on all the maps.

But Expert Armor badge doesn't mean anything except that you have an Expert Armor Badge. It doesn't affect any ranks. I understand that 400hrs is insane, but if you want to be an expert, that's the ante.
I'm not opposed to lowered time requirements, but armor to plane/helo ratio would imply longer reqs for armor because of the sheer number, imo.

But as I said earlier, that would imply that transport, as the most widely available vehicle type in the game, should have the longest requirements. In fact it has the shortest...

Ah, but most players don't transpor-whore, like with tanks. Plus it's easier to destroy a transport than it is a tank or apc. Well, easier is relative I suppose.
True that transport is everywhere. I don't know of a lot of people who sit in jeeps capping flags (sometimes when it's safe, or you're rapidly capping). The driver is basically defenseless, and some transport (3 seat jeeps) have limited attack ranges. The guns don't go 360. That's what I'm thinking, but you make a good point.

Re: Armor badge not adjusted - WHY?

Maybe time requirements are partly determined by *desirability* as well as things like difficulty. So because 'transportation' awards are less desirable, then they don't make it so hard to get.. kinda like icing on the BF2 cake.. But what you're saying Gav makes sense logically!

Does all this really matter? Its just one badge that has a gross amount of hours to play. So what? I dont play BF2 for the ranks and awards, (though it does give the game some depth), I play it cause its fun. Its a bar higher then many other online games. I like to look at BF2, like I did CoD 1. The maps were small, there was no depth and not alot of options. But the game was fun, and u could play for hours. The award requirments is not something we should all be worrying about. Its the game play facters that need more attention.

I have like 40ish hours Armor, I don't really use it that often though, I used to use Armor alot, but no I use the Heli and the Jet alot more.

I think that Veteran Armor should be lowered to 50h and Expert 150h. Really it should be on par with other vehicle times as it doesn't really look right.
