ranking - glitch?

i've noticed on my account and others that i occassionally glance at on the leaderboard are not progressing to there next level when they should. yes, they do have all the requirements as far as totalbf2.com specifys, and i've looked over again and again just to make sure - that includes the required pts and badges to progress on.

so here is my question and bare with me on this, it is troubling me but i dont really care. i am a master sergeant (as you can see in my sig) and should be a first sergeant. i am wondering if one of these rankings was scrapped in the last patch or something and if my next promotion is @ the 50k pts level?

remember, it says my next rank is first sergeant and i meet all requirements for it (first sergeant is the 20k pts as well) and im 37k +.

You have to wait until 50 000 points are collected before you get next promotion.. you probably didnt have certain badges when you filled 20 000 points condition.. and getting these badges LATER wont give you new rank.. I made trough the same thing

ohhh, so if i had all the badges required before i hit 20k, then it would be kind of like a bonus thing and i get a bonus rank or something (considering i need one more for my last unlocks...)???

oh well, i figured that i'd have to hit 50k for my next rank anyways. i was just curious to know why i didn't get the other.

ya you get either first sargent OR master sargent. 1st sargent is the one that requires badges to get (along with the 20K). The game kinda screws you b/c u cant get 1st sarg after you get master sarg. even if you have all of the bages. If you get all master sarg and then get the badges it wont promote you.

That's what it's like in real life.

A Master Sergeant is the eighth enlisted rank in the United States Marine Corps, just above Gunnery Sergeant, below Master Gunnery Sergeant, Sergeant Major, and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.

It is equal in grade to First Sergeant. It is abbreviated as "MSgt." Master Sergeants in the U.S. Marine Corps provide technical leadership as occupational specialists at the E-8 level. General command leadership at this paygrade is provided by the separate rank of First Sergeant.

In the United States Marine Corps, First Sergeant is one level below Sergeant Major and Master Gunnery Sergeant and is the next rank above Gunnery Sergeant. It is equal in grade to Master Sergeant, although the two ranks have different responsibilities. Unlike the first sergeant and master sergeant programs in the U.S. Army, no lateral movement is possible between the two ranks in the Marine Corps. In their annual performance evaluations, called "proficiency reports," eligible Gunnery Sergeants indicate whether they wish to be considered for promotion to Master Sergeant or First Sergeant, and thus whether they enter the promotional track for Master Gunnery Sergeant or Sergeant Major.

To make the info from bf2tracker a little simplier...

The 1stSgt is an administrative position while the MSgt is a "field" position.

The SgtMajor is also an administrative position while the MGySgt is also a field position.

Now either the MSgt or the MGySgt can work in an administrative position, but the 1stSgt and SgtMajor will not work in the field positions.

To me, the ranking structure in BF2 and the badge requirements are backassward.

The MSgt and MGySgt are the ones that will get the specialized badges as they work "in-the-field".

The 1stSgt and SgtMajor do not have the opportunity to get these badges working in admin positions.
