Why are mods taking so long??

    (Flamesuit at the ready)

This is no way dis-respect or Forgetting is free content made by passionate people with lots of hard work .

But honestly from a old school player ! ,I did not buy bf2 to play vanilla .Basically in my views the bf range only was at its best with mods:p

So why is it taking so long are they waiting for dice to get its patches right?which i could understand!.

Please take this post the right way ,from a old school player who is more passionate bout mods than anything so i cant wait and i see some far better games coming out thru them:)

    Any hints for people Pirate?:p

Are you sure you used enough :) ?

The editor that EA/DiCE released never made it out of beta stage and support given to modding teams has been almost zero (IMHO).

I didnt realize about that:cry: but it makes me think not twice but 3 times on giving them any more money if they dont support the communtity

Maybe the post name should have been>Cant wait for mods, sounded a bit nasty .

Finally i am not interested in a mod called 2141 and 1/2:laugh: , even if it was a dollar:p if that is the support case

I always said ranks bring tardz, explioters and hacks so i believe you:)

In old bf everyone felt like a champ even if they were not because it wasnt a competition it was mainly fun (*per say )

This is what im screaming at the mod makers not to rank em

Finally i prefer mods with out arty or uav(much more fun)

hand held sams would be a nice balance also:)

You want a half finished mod to go along with a half finished game?

The development cycle for Forgotten Hope 2 seems to be extremely long, I wish it would come out by the end of 2006 at least.

Re: Why are mods taking so long??

Like someone said above, EA/DICE gave the modding teams almost nothing to work with. Mix that with the fact that BF2 is extremely complicated (coding wise) and you get your answer; it takes a while.

Go ahead and double that for full conversions. Mods like FH2, DCON, etc will take a very long time. Whereas mods like USI use a lot of the original coding from BF2, just re-worked.

From a personal stand point, being involved with BFPirates2 I am starting to realize that it is going to take a while. For BFPirates 2 specifically, since they have to re-do all the coding on the guns and such (to make them into muskets), I am amazed at how much they have done already.

Anyways, I think BF2 died too early and therefore is putting pressure on the mods.

P.S. Why does everyone have one of these "Flame suits" and where can I get one. :)

That, and it probably takes a helluva a lot longer to make a model that looks up to par with BF2 vs the old DC/BF42 models. Not sure you would want to lower poly models of yesterday in todays game, would probably look pretty lame. Same goes for all the other aspects of the game, newer things to work with (python) etc.

Well if it's bothering you so much feel free to financially support the mod team of your choice so they can work on the project 24/7.

I imagine a couple hundred thou should do it. I'm sure they take PayPal.
