    Tanks: Lock indicator from TVGM

After all this solo-piloting discussion (please don't discuss it here), I thought of a question.

If you're in a tank, and a TVGM starts heading towards you - you get a lock indicator. How does the tank know your getting locked?

Is that what that box is for on the TVGM screen? Anything in that box knows your coming?

    Thanks for the answers/comments.

I guess that the TV missile is communicating through some sort of IR with the remote guiding assistance system that the gunner uses.
So whenever an infrared or other missile transmisison source hits the tank it's detectors go off.

I understand for planes but I wish tanks wouldn't give warning for AT rockets. Give us infantry dudes a chance!

          I've asked this before, here:

But seriously, there is not much you can do. Before you realize it is a chopper, BAM! With all the chopper whoring, I learned to look at the sky. Whenever a chopper is around and I hear a brief lock tone, I pop smoke, get out of it and try to reach the nearest AA or whatever.

There's a way around this. Shoot your missile away from your target so his warning indicator doesn't go off, then at the last second, guide your missile to him. The warning itself can be quite useful for annoying the hell out of armor harlots or AC crews.

I didn't know that TVGM's gave off buzzer warnings. Most of the time when I get owned by one, it comes as a total surprise.

Yes. If you just zoom in on a tank with your missile and don't fire he will hear a constant BEEP BEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEP and will panic and leave without you firing.

Learn to shoot your AT missiles without looking though the reticule, or learn how to dumbfire them effectively.

Read the great Anti Armor Rocket Guide. IDontDoWeddings might have some great tips for you in this one. :)
It did help me, and I learned new stuff in there even though I already consider myself a full-time AT employee

what makes even less sense, is stuff like jeeps and atv's getting lock warnings.
