aa IS the problem with the j10, it has no other gameplay inbalances!

I have no idea what you just said.

        Either way, AA is different from A2A.... AA = anti-air. A2A = Air-to-Air (missles).

Metallica, right now AA is under discussion. Im sure most of us would gladly take J10 apart ourselves. Your post was just as on topic as guys jumping in with bunnyhopping issues

what i said is that you arent realising that the handeling characteristics of the j10 are fine, as well as all its other properties, its the way a2a/g2a missiles seem to fly right up to it and miss that is the problem! thus, the problem of the j10, is a problem of aa misisles

            catagory = anti air (AA)
sub catagory = ground to air (g2a)
sub catagory = air to air (a2a)

This thread is not about balancing jets, its about fixing AA. And I do like the idea behind TV guided anti air, that would be sweet. I didnt really understand your idea at first but it seems good now that you carified. Think EA can make it work though?

I had no problem taking down the PLA jets to get my expert AA.

You mean me? If yes, thats not what I meant. Thats how I described it works like.

The only skill based solutions I can think or are flak cannons or "radar" guided missiles which work like WARROCK AA missiles.

Basically, you aquire a lock, which takes a few moments. And then you launch the missiles. BUT! You have to KEEP the lock in order to keep the missiles connected. Warrock STA and ATA was so much superior to BF2. Skill based 100%.

Ah.... I find TV missiles more fun and would probably require more skill, but your way might work I guess. Jets do go a bit to fast to hit with TV I suppose.

Wow that would be cool... LOL

Have it like a TV missle, but with 800 range or so, but it goes 2x faster than a TV missle. And instead of clicking to re-direct, you would just move the mouse (because that is way to fast to control with clicks.

Um, S2A missles ALWAYS hit a J10 unless the J10 uses flares properly or it is fired from the essex.

Yeah.. that's why I see S2A missles as fine.. at least one hits every time...

I think just make it so that it does more damage (IE 2 missles instead of 3), and that's all that needs to be done.

But I like Redfields diagram. Thats how dodging a missle should be. Turns will break lock.

All you need to do is remove the ability of jet pilots to see greyed-out AA installations on the ground. That way they won't know by immediately looking at a map, which are manned, and which aren't.

AA missiles don't need to be any more powerful, and jets don't need to be nerfed. All you need is a level playing field where each has as much chance of knowing the position of the other without seeing it themselves.

Here's a little diagram I did up awhile back while looking at the idea of impossing a slight delay in missile tracking to allow manuvers to shake 'em:

The idea is that you would make the missile tracking lag a bit. Green lines show the angle that a missile can maintain a lock. The blue line is the flight path of the plane being tracked. The purple lines show which point in time along the path a missle is using for tracking purposes.

It's not a perfect diagram since it doesn't show how the missiles would wander from the path (I'd need a vector ploter and some code to be truely accurate), but it shows how the theory would work.
