FF off is great fun every now and then, as long as you don't take it too seriously IMO, but whenever I want to get points or actually work as a team i go to FF on servers, which is the majority of the severs i play on. I can never seem to fight seriously on FF off servers, all that C4 jumping messes with my head.:laugh:

(er . eh. real reason . was the bombers and attack helo and armor could shoot without fear of consequence, and stole all the kills from the grunts on the ground!)

FF ON: More realistic, demands better teamwork and coordination, includes the "chaos elements" of real warfare. But it also facilitates BF2's biggest problem - smacktarding TK'ers who are obsessed with stats.
FF OFF: Different, allows for unexpected positioning, require less coordination and teamplay. But it also detracts for realism and immersion and facilitates same tactics that are stupid/Quake 3-like.

Preference? A matter of taste. If FF OFF still was lethal to yourself (to avoid the C4 kamikaze tactics) I might be more inclined towards it.

Theres only one reason I don't like ff off servers: Every single vodnik on the road has c4 on it and the driver will ram into you, switch to a rear seat, detonate, and drive away. Even though I never do it, I consider c4 ramming to be a valid tactic, but this is going a bit far. Also, sometimes you just have to kill your teamates, but you can't.

we started running our server with no FF, we also made sure its clearly stated that in the log in info too so as long as people read the server info they know its turned off, if they dont like it they can just hit esc while loading and find a new one, its not hard.

i was kinda leary about it at first, just didnt like the idea of no concequince to spamming nades all over karkand but ive slowly changed my perspective, nade spammers are easy to avoid, just dont run to the area where they all toss them too and dont spawn at the hotel.

want a whole new karkand just grab a few x packs and find a building, its like having a grappeling hook in karkand. it keeps the enemy on their toes, i see guys checking rooftops, roof tops they never would of considered checking before. i just think for the battle hardend karky player its a nice change of pace and brings a new feel to the drab routine that is karkand.

9 times our of 10 the tank exsplosion will also take out the jehadder, its not a big problem.

I think FF should be on, but the problem is for us snipers people are blind and never seem to see the BIG RED SIGN in the corner of the screen that says MINES! They just run into it, and then punish me for a TK when they should be more aware of their environment. Thats the only downside to FF on for me.
