No, it's just "recommended" that it be turned on.
But it should be against the ROE. It seems bizarre to me that slagfests aren't viewed in the same light as stat-padding.

As far as i'm concerned, its the same as K/P servers. Stop moaning about them, just DON'T USE THE SERVERS. There are plenty of servers out there that cater for everyones tastes, why should Mr A tell Ms B what type of server she can go on, or what type of server she can run, if A and B have both paid the same money?
I don't use K/P servers, but to be honest, its cos I am proper crap with K AND P , but I wouldn't moan and berate someone for using them.

lol, one time i joined a ranked server not knowing ff was off and some guy was jumping around tossing c4 killing people and he was launching himself real high. then i started a big war on the chat thing. they didn't tell me untill like half way through the round.

I actually said they were fun for a diversion mash-up.

But you make my point for me: Similar to your statement above, I also view FF=Off the same as K/P servers.
Both seem like statpadding to me. Incidentally, K/P servers are against the ROE.

Wow, voice my opinion and get flamed by some nub. Nice going, and watch the age comments I've been gaming longer than you'd think.... As far as playing for fun, I've had plenty of time on CS1.6 and CS:S servers with AND without FF to understand the difference.

Tell me, on a Ranked server, with FF on, would you behave the same way if you were trying to get your explosives badge? I think not. Unlike tk'ing idiots, I have plenty of fun on FF servers, and I find the fact that we're on a level playing surface to add to the fun.

Maybe you're one of those guys that can't move beyond grenade or claymore spam for kills. And judging by your stats, I can see why the word "fun" is used as your main point of defense.

Here's the logic that is missing from that spongy shyt in between your ears:

Stats, badges, unlocks, and etc. are intended to be based upon a modicum of skill. EA thought it worthwhile to make people be skilled in particular areas before moving up in rank and gaining new weapons. Some people couldn't handle killing people with knives and pistols, like you admitted yourself to being one of those, so they created pistol and knife only servers where, surprise surprise, the only kills people could get would fulfill the requirements they thought were too difficult to do in standard battle.

EA thought that was BS and resolved to shut them down.

FF=Off allows people to lob grenades all over the place, plant C4, mines, and clays all over the place and also shoot the crap out of whatever moves without consequence or aim. It's the same concept as the people who weren't able to achieve their pistol and knife badges.

Now get off your high horse and stop looking down your nose for one second (or however long it takes you to understand the next sentence I'm about to type):

But I ALSO said those servers were similar to stat-padding in the same way that pistol/knife servers were judged to be stat-padding by EA. The only reason they don't enforce is probably because it'd be too difficult. Who knows...but it's worded strangely in the ROE and should be against it if P/K servers are.

I don't personally give a shyt what people do or where they play--it's simply a matter of EA being inconsistent. Hopefully that's penetrated your still developing brain because I'm not going to dumb it down any further for you.

FF off dumbs the game down IMO. There's already too much of that going on.

If the server is being admin'd properly, people getting TK'd by running in front of jets would be kicked for disruptive gameplay.

I agree there mate. I think they are two totally different games wrt FF. As for admin, IMO there are too many childish people abusing admin rights, you only have to look through the posts.

I think that BF2 has enough fiction in it (for the sake of gameplay) to where having FF off doesn't gameplay in a negative fashion. On the otherhand, mods with more overall realism should have it on without a doubt.

Friendly Fire off is for noobs.

I rarely have a problem with running over teammates with my tank. If you do, you are doing something wrong.

And I HATE the whine about being punished. Who cares if you get punished? How many times have you ACTUALLY been kicked from a server for being punished? Only ONE time have I ever been kicked from a server for TKing and that was before the patch that took away TK punishes for commanders and arty. If you are often getting kicked from servers for many accidental TKs, then, quite frankly, YOU SUCK.

You should have to be mindful of your teammates. I can't believe that they allowed ranked servers with FF off.

Oh I dont know, my stats show 200 times for idiots forcing tk on my jet. It has happened PLENTY of times.
