are 1.4 servers ranked or unranked

i am trying to settle an argument, basically are the beta servers ranked, meaning you accrue points toward the global, or are they not?

They will be soon enough, that may or may not be a good thing, depending on what EA/Dice do this time.

release notes claim they are and the server names have chevrons in the browser indicating they are. but I didn't pay attention to my points before I played a few times today. I thought I got some points, but I can't say for certain.

Some 1.4 servers ARE ranked. I gained points from a server. Even wrote down my points like some n00b said. I would search the forums, but i'm too lazy right now, 4:00 AM in the morning.

AFAIK, every server running 1.4 that shows up as ranked in the browser as ranked will record points. I have yet to find one that doesn't and have added 2,000 points to my global score since I installed the 1.4 patches.

The patchnotes said otherwise yes but they're wrong.

From EA :

There are some ranked servers to make sure that the ranking system works as intended with the new patch. That does not mean abuse and stat padding is tolerated though, just like with non-beta patches.

YES! No more CTD or server crashes, new map...
That should be enough.
But be sure to make a copy of 1.3 game directory as it is needed to repatch with a new beta.

It's worth downloading yes as long as you follow the instructions in the readme.txt

1st-3rd game into my beta testing:
I tried an "infantry only" server (and found transport vehicles and vodniks with guns, despite the bellyaching I see in a lot of threads lately) on Jalalabad. Interesting map, but all the interiors looked exactly the same, though (lots of thought there )
3rd round into it, the server crashed. *muttered some obscenities*

4th and 5th game I tried a different infantry only server.
This time it really was *only* infantry. I only saw medics and snipers and had to watch as someone continually spammed and moaned about the amount of medics running around. Then he shot me with his M95, lol.

So I tried all the kits. I got about a few extra steps with assault before being mowed down. Maybe they could program some health packs into the map to encourage some non-medic kits. Who knows? But the medics running around weren't interested in tossing their packs to others, that was certain.

6th game+ I went back to 1.3 and played with my friends on vent.

Maybe it'll be more fun for you.

But I didn't experience any crashes, so it's ok with me.

Well, it didn't crash so much as say: "There's a problem with your connection"
I guess that could be anything, tbh.

What did you think of the 2x sprint on the inf. only servers? Didn't take too long to walk, but they kept fairly small maps. I think maps should just be made with natural choke points around a few flags that vehicles can't enter, and then infantry only fans can play in their sandbox and vehicle peeps can play outside in theirs...but that'd take a new map.


The thing I forgot to mention, that probably needs to be mentioned, is that I'm in California and the only ranked servers I could find were 170+ ping and I tired it this afternoon. And there were only like 6 ranked and about 20 unranked servers. And the servers I entered were extremely unbalanced in regards to player skill (or the Jalalabad map was unbalanced) so it was loss after loss after loss until I went to the next server.
