EA/DICE is reselling the Bf2 engine in BF2142??

If BF2142 use the same engine has BF2 do we have to pay again for the same engine? Why not sell us bf2142 as a mod or expantion?

Why pay for the same thing we already bought? And waited a year to get the full game with a 500MB patch.

Sacramento is right, and I'll give you an example to back his statement.

The Ghost 2 engine by Raven is in Quake 3 and Sof2 and some other games can't remember, but its used in these games, but Quake 3's maker ID software is partners with Raven. Raven developed SOF2 but they are completely different games, minus that they are both fps, but they are different in many ways.

2142 is a seperate game from BF2, its the same engine yes, but its a different game, the engine is only the core of the games graphics etc, not what the game features like maps, weapons etc.

I don't care what they do with bf 2142; as long as it doesn't have near as many bugs and glitches as BF2 I will be happy.

2142 is a seperate game from BF2, its the same engine yes, but its a different game, the engine is only the core of the games graphics etc, not what the game features like maps, weapons etc.

So why they dont sell us BF2 owners a BF2142 mod cheaper. And the one's that dont have bf2 to buy a complete version.

Why I have to pay for something I already have? And all the bug fixes from all the patches? We had to suffer all this changes for EA, they take all this feedback from us and make a new mod and resell us the bf2 engine fixed.

For your information many of the engines of other games are re-used more than once. So why dont you keep it shut, actually get some facts together and wait for the game (atleast demo) before you talk.

couldnt agree more with you.

Doesnt anyone remember BfV, that game used an upgraded Bf42 engine, and it still remains my favourite BF game.
So why doesnt anyone cry Mod with it...

This has been known since December of last year or whenever the subject of 2142 was initially brought up. The engine from BF2 will also be used in 2142. Just like the same engine form Doom 3 will be used for Quakewars. This is not unheard of in the gaming world as you can see by the various posts.

No one is forcing you or telling you that you have to buy that game. If you don't want to buy it then don't. That is your right. So how did this topic go from the same engine being used to an insult on someones gaming? Your post would have been more credible had you left that last part out.

Not totally true, ive seen a number of screen shots with reused objects and textures, the only real changes to the game is the vehicles. soldiers, weapons and a few cosmetic changes apart from that almost everything else is extreamly similar to BF2. I wouldn't be surprised if the editor (if they even release one) is simply a modified BF2 editor.

if you say you dont like to pay for something you already have and want something different here is great news for you!... there are great mods featured all the time on the totalbf2 home page they use the same game engine and come in pirate, futuristic, unrealistic style anyway you want, and they are free!!!! what do you think that you are obligated to get bf2142 just bc EA made it? in my opinion there are some great mods out there that might even be better than bf2 and are free. thats my 2 cents

BF2 engine was new one year ago, even if it has some bugs its still awesome, now the master it so it will give something better, the graphics will be a little better and less bugs will occur i hope because they can focus more on the gameplay.

A more compex engine would need higher configs for online play so alot of players wouldnt be able to play.

As said previously re-using engines is common.

Don't forget its in progress. You can't really get a good judgement on what the game looks/plays like until you actually play it.

And with 1.4 500mb patch it still have bugs that EA cant fix. This is a year ago from released. Why I have to pay for the same buggy engine. All I ask to ea is for them to sell bf2142 as a mod for BF2 owners. Why everyone is so mad about it. A mod would cost less.

Every mod is diferent than bf2. BF2142 is a mod of bf2. It use the same engine.
Look at the bf2 pirates mod. It looks totaly diferent from bf2, but use the same engine.

Every BF2 owner have the BF2142 engine.

Only way to show EA your displeasure with reusing an engine that still has severe bugs and are way too resource-demanding is with your wallet.

Don't buy it if it doesn't seem to hold up to minimum-standards of what a customer should expect for a product.

I hope that many customers will at least wait and check out the reviews and the boards before they buy.

EA has released many great games and them making a good living off of that is perfectly fine - it shows that the system works. But if we enter an era where customers are so loyal and devoted that they will accept products with severe flaws and bugs, it sends a message that having inferior quality assurance in the development process, is OK.
