The best viedo card?

I was just wondering what the best video card u could put in your computer was i mean with topnotch graphics? I have a Nvidia Geforce 7900 GT 256MB so I think im pretty close to it.

If you want to run such high power graphics you will need a monster CPU to back it up otherwise it will bottleneck the system.
As for the most powerful setup, I would say X1900 Crossfire, as not many games support quad SLi (and the fact that nVidia hasn't made a 7950 quad SLi driver yet).

x1900xtx is such a beast card and its also very big, so if u plan on getting it, make sure it can fit in ur case :p

i run every game on high (eccpet oblivon & FEAR) at 1280 x1024 res. wit my x1800xt 512mb :p .

- and ya x1900xtx and 7950 are the most powerfull cards out, IN THE TIME BEING.

If you want to run such high power graphics you will need a monster CPU to back it up otherwise it will bottleneck the system.

That doesn't happen anymore. Many tests have shown the difference between an AMD 3200+ and an FX-60 (WHEN USING FULL AA AND AF)...the difference in fps is rarely more than 3fps...THREE FPS. Many games showed 0.0 change, BF2 being one of them.

Again, this is using MAXIMUM antialiasing and anisotropic filtering levels. And running at least 1024x768, but normally 1280x960. As you increase res, the CPU becomes even less important.

Some of the reviews of the recent Conroe confirm this again. Look at the tests some did using 1600x1200, with AA enabled. All the CPU's tested show nearly identical results.

Now, factor in what I just typed and consider the cards we are talking about. x1900's and 7900's...what kind of assclown would NOT use maximum settings if they had these cards? None is the answer :)

Super high end CPU's serve 3 main purposes:

bragging rights
applications like encoding/decoding
synthetic benchmarks for lengthening e-peni

What would be a better question would be "which graphics card offers the best bang for buck". Its obvious what the best cards are, but finding the sweet spot of dollars spent vs. performance is much harder.

lol nope I just got the nvidia 7900 gt so im stickin with that but i was just wondring because my friend is rich ans he wants best vid card but i thinnk he's gonna get same as me but yeah. and thanks guys .

It's important to remember that there is no point in spending huge ammounts of money on a vid card if you have a rubbish monitor. A 7950 and 7900GT will both produce good FPS at 1280 by 1024, so you should only spend more if your monitor can support higher resolutions, like 1600 by 1200.
