    Lol

LOL in this case, standing for Lots of Lag.
Everytime I start up BF2 and join a server, even though it'll be at the top of the list (list filtered by ping lowest to highest), my ping always jumps to 150-200+ and the game becomes all warpy and unplayable. Is there any solution to this?

    Re: Lol

Are you running anything else in the back ground?
Do you have adequate resources to run BF2? (Ram, good vid card, good comp all round)
Do you perform regular maintenance on your rig? (defrag, antivirus checks, etc)
Are your video settings correct for your card?
Is your rig overheating at all?
There are lots of things to check for that can cause thing. Have a look at this site. I cannot guarantee you that it will fix it, but it will give you a better starting point in order to get a handle on the problem.
    Cheers.

Yeah, I have other things running but it never used to lag like this before.
Specs are 2GB RAM, 2.6GHz cpu, 5500 video card and all settings on low/off. Does overheating cause your internet to lag?
I'm not talking about laggy gameplay, I'm talking about laggy ping, like I'll join a server that says 70 ping in the server list but when I start playing and moving around it jumps to 200

Run a traceroute and see what it turns up. Could be that your ISP is takinga dive at peak times. Check this link to learn more. If you need to, call up your ISP and ask them if there is maintenance being done to the lines in your area.
