Bf2 Major Slowdown

PC Specifications:
CPU = Intel P4 3.0Ghz LGA775
RAM = 1GB
GPU = nVidida GeForce 7800GT, 256MB
PSU = 500W
HDD = 186GB
OS = Windows XP SP2

I should be able to play BF2 on High but when I do there is alot of lag.
And when I play on medium/high after about 20 minutes of playing the game begins to lag alot then stop, then lag, then stop about every 3 seconds.
Any ideas to help me?

But why is it so laggy?
My GPU should be able to handle High GFX

Because you are running BF2 on high settings, your graphics card is generating a hell of a lot of information. It needs to transfer this info to other parts of your PC, it does this using your RAM. Currently your RAM is bottlenecking your system as there isnt enough to transfer all the info at once (this is the lag you are getting). Another gig of ram will give you the extra bandwith needed to cope, and get rid of the lag and make you load faster

Well it depends on what settings your textures are on..Textures are extremely RAM dependent...

Why dont you get another GIg you can for like $70-$80

maybe heat? how hot is your pc after awhile, heat can cause alot of slowdown in a pc. might wanna get better ventilation, extra fans etc if its hot.

Your gpu would shutdown before having fps cut this much from heat.

I've had this problem before. Increasing the pagefile size helped cured it. You should get some more ram too.

My pagefile is very big so I don't have to worry about that.
If I got 2GB of RAM would I be able to play it with every setting at high?
