Installation Issue:

G'day,

Today out of nowhere I kicked from a gamearena server with the message 'please revert back to the unmodified client bla bla', its happend before so I reinstalled, which seemed to go smoothly..
Then I tried to patch and the patch said 'Couldn't fine Battlefield 2 install folder' so, reinstall again..
Then on this reinstall I got this error as soon as it finished installing all the files:




After that the setup closes and it ends up not installing anything..

Ive tried uninstalling BF2SF as well and then installing bf2, no luck there...
Tried resetting computer...nothing
I think something must have went wrong with the uninstall, I cant find the bf2 program in add/remove programs in control panel.

Any help? Thanks =)

PS: I have tried the following-

-Clearing the registry for anything bf2 related (failed)
-Searching every bf2 forum known to man
-Empying recycle bin then installing
-Extracting everything off the CD into a folder and installing
-1000 time resetted computer.

Do a search on the forums, that is an old-ish issue that has been posted a lot before.

I cannot find anything related to this, besides restore your system back to when BF2 was fine.
My system restore was off before the problem happend, I only turned it on now, is there any way I can restore my system back a few hours even if it was off at the time?

Unfortunately you cannot roll back installation patches or anything. However, you can try a couple of different things.

1- Download the FULL 1.3 patch (i know, pain in the arse) and repatch your game. Reboot and test it out.

2- Uninstall BF2 and resinstall the entire thing. (even bigger pain)

3- Try and update your punkbuster files using PBSETUP.EXE

For the most part, #1 or #3 will do the trick. It could be that the server you were playing on checked and saw something out of date. Let me know if this helps.

If this error occurs during installation, the user logged in at the time of installation did not have the necessary privileges.

You have to be admin on your computer to install and run it.
