my friends computer displays like weird white triangles that stretch into the horizon and i guess a few spots here and there while playing bf2 and a few other games but not all, the video card is not overheating we have checked that, we have tried the nvidia drivers that came on the bf2 disk, the curent 91.31 and previous 84.?? He had a ATI x700 in the agp slot before this, but he says he uninstalled the ati drivers using the windows control panel, before shutting down to install the 6800 GT, the card worked great when i had it(sold it to him and got 7800 GS) any help would be appreciated.

Re: weird graphics
You checked the heat, but for the record, what was its temperature under load?
It could be that his psu is not powerful enough, what are his system specs?

Re: weird graphics
the temp was below 60c and i believe the psu is 480w, I will have his pc here tomarrow so I can tinker with it.

Re: weird graphics
Well, make sure that it is properly pushed into the agp port and no dust is in the port, make sure the monitor is properly connected, and make sure the fan is spinning properly.
Try uninstalling his drivers again but before you reinstall, use this program to clean any leftover ati and nvidia drivers
Check that all of his bios settings are correct, guide here
What motherboard does he have?

Re: weird graphics
Beside the artifacts, I'd say he needs some AA stat. But for the weird shapes and whatnot I suggest a fresh install of the card, just delete and install it again.

He already tried that, did you try what I suggested? And full system specs would be helpful.Originally posted by GeoffRowleyI suggest a fresh install of the card, just delete and install it again.

Re: weird graphics
Athlon 64 3200+(754
ASUS K8v SE motherboard
1 gb ram
EVGA 6800 GT
I should mention that Doom 3 works fine which is an openGL game. possible problem with direct 3d? Is it possible dirext x needs to be reinstalled because of going from ATI to Nvidia
also he is running a cheapo 480w power supply with the 6800 GT and his hard drive both on the same 12v rail. the psu looks very small even being in a mid-size case

Re: weird graphics
I used to have that problem, I fixed it by downloading the latest BIOS update from ASUS
This should solve your problem.

Re: weird graphics
You will need the bios update tool and latest bios, available from here.
When updating your bios, be extremely careful, if you go wrong you could have to reinstall windows or worse.
Once you have updated, you will most likely have to reset all of your bios settings, so write down the old ones first. As I said before, also check these settings are correct (under bios settings).
