Re: Battlefield 2: Veterans Program by EA

I'm thinkin this will prolly have nothing to do with stats or time played.
If you've registered your BF2 with EA, you'll prolly count as a "vet".

As to exactly what it means... who know?
    Discount?
    Beta testing?
A free oral favor from a high level EA exec?

Here's how I would like them to consider you for the Veterans Program.

To qualify, run a little application and it asks you to enter the the following CD's along with their serial numbers:
BF1942, Road to Rome, Secret Weapons, Battlefield Vietnam, Bf2 and Special Forces. That, and you must have bought Euro Forces and Armored Fury.
Now, that coupled with a certain minimum amount of hours played for BF2 would truely qualify you as a BF2 nut and somebody that should qualify for any type of BF2142 open beta (if you ask me).

Obviously, I'd qualify for it since Battlefield has been my mistress since the wake demo. :)

Awww....wait...in order to qualify for this veterans program...do you have to be registered for the EA newsletter, or do you only need a BF2 account? Cuz I have the account..but I'm not registered for anything that came with the game. All I did was install the game...thats it.

Why didnt EA call BF2, Battlefield 3 since it was the third Installment?

Because Battlefield:1942 and Battlefield:Vietnam ran on the same engine. BF:V was to BF:1942 as BF:2142 is to BF:2. Battlefield 2 basically means that it's a brand new engine and brand new game. BFV was more like a really big addon.

Responding to the first few posts I don't think picking by points would be good. I'd say based on the % of top 10 scorers that play karkand 99% of the time that the top 100 players would be about the same. They need to find diverse players that don't just find a way to score points and keep doing it over and over. People that will explore the game play and try new things.

I didnt get an e mail either, I reckon it because a long time ago when I signed up I clicked do not recive newsletter:hmm:
As for the Veteran part, well I bought Bf42, BfV and Bf2 on the day they came out here, I dont think a Bf2 veteran is someone who has spent 1000+ hour's on Kark.
Those people are not veterans, they are disturbed...

They'll probably give us some coupon for the game when it comes out. Probably 10%~50% off since they totally gonna scrap BF2 once BF2142 comes out. :hmm: I don't know about some BETA thing though, they owe a lot people who stuck around BF2 even though they screwed it up so badly when they shoved expansion after expansion down our throats without fixing anything in the original game :/

                        Thoughts?

It would be pretty cool if they gave out Beta testing privileges to top scorers in the game. They'd have to check for stat padding first, but that's the easy part. Only problem with is some people may not be so nice and hand out the Beta publicly.
Why wouldn't this be nice for the community? I wouldn't mind getting one handed you to me. I'm sure most people would love it, execpt for EA of course

                          Just go for ET:QW.
EA and DICE are pulling the most dirtiest trciks ourt of the closet.

*Giving out boosters for money, those fockers.
                          *full of bugs
                          * Trying to compete with ET:QW (lol, like they wil ever come close) and CS (infnatry only mode) while the community is in agony of almost a unplayable game, and those mother****ers just ignore it.

I hope you don't need to use the same account, and hence name, to prove you're a BF2 veteran...I want to change my name, not keep using the one with the defunct clan tag in it!

Will have to wait and see. I am mildly impressed with EA recently, things are looking up, I hope they keep up their good work.

Hope I can beta test it, I registered in August 2005, but had the game since it came out in June 2005, didn't have a good enough computer so I just played single player on a computer without the net.

I have bought SF and all the booster packs, as well as own a ton of EA games on PS2 and PC.

They will probly make sure not to give it to stat padders, people who have been wiped, banned etc.
