Battlefield Browser - Beta testers required

    Hey all

I'm writing an app called the Battlefield Browser. It's meant to be a quick and easy way to find servers, is especially mod-friendly and may be preferred by some to the various alternatives. I know there are plenty of browsers already but I'd like to see what others think of it and whether you think it's worth releasing it.

NB - This is not to be confused with the Battlefield Browser Lite, currently available at my site.

I need some people to test it out (especially people that play one or more mods), see what they think, make suggestions and give me feednack as to whether they think it's any good or not and whether they think people will like it. It's pretty well feature-complete (though it looks awful, not tidied the ui yet) and pretty well all of it works. If you'd like to help out then please drop me an email at kurt@battlefieldbrowser.com.

Please note that I really need people who are willing to put it through it's paces and try and break it then provide feedback, list bugs, etc. In the past I've found that beta testers just don't bother to provide feedback and that makes developing apps harder. I know you'll be doing me a favour and I can't offer much in return except to list you on the credits page on my site - not much I know but it's the best I can do.

So, I'd really appreciate any help you can give. Drop me an email and I'll send you the download and bug tracker location today or tomorrow, depending on when I can do a build and set up the bug tracker. There's no obligation and if you want to be removed off the beta testers list then that's no prob, I won't keep sending you emails.

    Cheers all

I'll give it a go (time to test it).

Though do you think you can produce something better than the best one out there at the moment?

I don't know. I've had this app sat on my hard drive for ages, I use it every day or add little bits and pieces every day to make it better so I thought I may as well have some other people have a play with it and see if they think it's worth polishing it up and releasing it. It's written specifically for BF2 unlike most of the others meaning that everything's BF2-specific. For example, it detects any mods you have installed automatically and searching for servers with only those mods takes one click, simple as that.

We'll have to see anyway, if peeps think it's p.o.s then I'll just not bother but if people think it's worth it then I'll crack on with it. I'm not trying to write an app that millions will use, that replaces all other apps, etc, I'd be happy if only 100 people a day use it, that'll more than make up for putting the effort in. The point is that it's already written and it won't take much work to polish it up and release it so why not?
