    When to get suspicious?

I was playing on my local server last night when one of the regulars was complaining about the number of pistol kills another player got, and how effective he was with the pistol, and seemingly how how resistant to damage he was.

Now I know I've made some pretty stunnig kills against full auto PKM's at 3 feet and the like, but I was curious.

Anyway at the end of the round I was switched to the other team, and I made my way into this guys squad.

He was driving the tank in Mashtuur, and I was in the coupla as his gunner. I racked up something like 20 points in driver assists just by sitting there watching him gun people down.

People through courrigated iron fences (Not the chicken wire, the solid ones). Can the M1A1's co-ax gun really do this? And how often should one be able to hit their target in the first 2-3 rounds with it? Firing blind?

And shooting the main gun and the co-ax at targets that are off in my fog (with view distance 100%) and not visible on the radar.

He was pretty consistantly killing people I couldn't even see.

Should I be concerned about this player? Was he just "good"? Was his PC that much better than mine?

The turret of the tank didn't see to be moving in an overly erratic way, which some people say could indicate an aimbot.

The Tanks secondary gun can fire through solid fences and wooden walls.

I tear people apart all the time in a tank on people I can not see. It’s easy, shoot a fence if you see the hit indicator keep shooting and they usually stay still too wondering why they can’t see where it’s coming from. Also I shoot my cannon into areas all the time where I know people hide or spawn. He wasn’t cheating, he knows the map.

Aimbots for BF2 are pretty rare.

It is more likely he had a wallhack, which is a LOT more common. Although its still a very small percentage of people out there, but wall hacks are much much more common than aimbots are.

Maybe he was just good? Once you've played a map for a time it becomes 2nd nature

            Re: When to get suspicious?

I reckon it's really hard to work out for sure whether someone is cheating or not. There was a thread on here a while ago about someone cheating, we had the Battlerecorder files and everything and people were still split as to whether they were cheating or not.

However, I would be suspicious if he seemed to *know* where people are when they're behind fences, etc. It's one thing randomly spraying fire at a fence and hoping to hit someone but it's another thing constantly getting kills that way.

Watch the way he is firing. If he sprays along the length of a fence then moves back to where he gets a hit then it sounds ok. However, if he seems to *aim* at a specific point behind the fence and get a kill again and again with short bursts then that sounds suspicious. The same goes for people in the distance. Some people know maps so well that they can pretty well predict where players are likely to be so that *may* be the explanation

              Re: When to get suspicious?

Yeah, unfortunately that was what I was thinking. He seemed to be doing a bit of both. Walking the fire to get a hit, and shooting directly.

But most of what I saw him do was at the Power Station flag in Mashtuur, and it seemes like that one has a very small capture radius anyway, so finding the badguys isn't too hard.

Still, I think I'll keep an eye on him in future.

PS, anf Oh, thanks, I didn't realise that the tanks could shoot through solid fences. I knew you can shoot throug the chain link fences (duh) but never tried a solid fence before.

I assume the Humvee's and Vodnik's guns can as well?

in case u didnt already know the .5 calibre guns can shoot through solid fences too. like the PKM. you can try this out in karkand. spawn US at the front right point and when u come down, shoot at that solid fence. it should kill anyone behind it.
