Veiws on the game comment back

Over the past year of Battlefield 2. New patches have come out and EA and Dice has changed a lot of things some for the good and some for the bad.

Some of the things I am not happy about as it contradicts the fact it is modern combat simulation.
Firstly: the some weapons in the game are amazingly underpowered. For example my favorite kit in the game is support whilst I use a machine gun, this weapon in real life would cut infantry in half even with amour, although I find if I open fire on a group if infantry whilst prone it seems to take a lot of shots to kill and you must aim 'quite' accurately to wipe them out if you can. Although obviously it is a close to medium range weapon so I am not expecting a automatic sniper lol but the PKM fired one shot at a time is very accurate. This under power occurs to many of the weapons in my opinion. As it will make people work more as a squad to stay alive.

You could say that if machine guns are that accurate and powerful to cut people in half, everyone would be support and the game would have no point to it. Well the disadvantage in real life, support guns are very heavy, very bulky and with all of that ammo to use and fire it does not make you so versatile. what I would like to see in support is that make the weapons at least semi realistic, but to contradict you could slow the player down (within reason so, not as slow as crawling prone lol.)

Secondly: is the accuracy of some of the weapons for example the L85A1, the medic unlock. This weapon in real life is now called the SA80 A2 the L85A1 is one of the first versions of the rifle (the rifle has been updated due to the fact the plastic on the rifle, melted when cammo cream was placed on it etc. But the accuracy point will still stand as it has not changed) lol. This in real life it one on the most accurate assault rifles in the world, although when in the game I am running down a road and see a enemy and the M16 is more accurate and that does not have a susat scope. I open fire in bursts; I need to waste a full mag on them. That does not sound like the most accurate weapon to me.

Thirdly: is the issue with the delay with going prone and crouching that has come out in patch 1.4. It is not realistic, if you came under fire the first thing you would do is hit the dirt as fast as you can, (and it is possible before you say you can’t with all that amour and the heavy rifles etc.) Solders in the army are at peak fitness they are not old men that take half of an hour to get up of the floor.

4: In the new 1.4 where you can become infantry only. I would like to see at least just cars to speed up travel they are not a great threat, you can easily blow up the car, also I have many of times flanked the gunner whilst he was killing my friend put my rifle in single shot and simply killed him. (There is also some discussion in battlefield 2 pod cast episode 14 about this.)

Finally: Is the distance of the C4 toss. You should be able to see a tank rumbling down to road whilst you are hiding, chuck some C4 out lay a trap and BANG. That was good in the earlier patches. Yes some people will abuse it again by throwing C4s over walls and killing a whole squad getting a flag. But again if you all worked as a team (VOIP is a must have for squads.) you would see him and a few shots he is not a threat.

Please write back on your comments if you think I am some noob complaining, or you agree with me.

    Peace out UKAMYCADET

What is that ment to mean he has a point with the one shot kill, but the Forum trails off subject. Does that mean you aggree with me or disaggree?
All i am asking for it to have realism in the game, to a point a unskilled computer player can understand the game play and enjoy.

War if not fair but we must not bend how we see reality by totally changeing the weapons and armour in veacles and troops.

You have a fatal flaw in your argument and that is as follows: The Battlefield franchise was never intended to be realistic. The series was designed to be a fun game that wasn't based so firmly around realism that it could/may destroy some of the fun for some of the people.

If BF2 was originally designed to be realistic there would be no need for the PRMM (You should check it out, I get the impression you'd like it)

I wouldn't like to see the support get improved or nerfed for that matter, I think that they have tinkered with the weapons enough and we've pretty much reached an equilibrium.

I see your point and thanks for not blowing my out in flames. But what about the points 3 4 and 5, i think they still stand and if you listen to www.battlefieldpodcast.com episode 14 they address some of the issues i am trying to say i am more formal way.

those things are more to do with the game and not realism. But i see what you are trying to say about point 1 and 2 i made. I still would like the medic unlock to be at least as accurate as the Spec ops M4.

thanks josh this forum has only been up 10 mins lol adn it already has quite a few posts

Your points are valid, Cadet, but as Eagle says, this is intended to be a game that is played for fun, not a military training simulation. In reality, organised armies/units that are well-trained and properly equipped such as the SAS and the USMC would batter seven shades of **** out of Insurgents and Rebels etc. It wouldn't make for good gameplay for the guys who were on the (drastically) weaker team. That's why the game hasn't gone for super realism. It's about having fun, and that means giving everyone a chance - and that means that you need balanced gameplay rather than realism.

I second the suggestion that you try the Project Reality mod though. It's great.

Re: Veiws on the game comment back

i but whant about realsim between player types. I totally agree with fairness in the two teams. As the USMC and the SAS would wipe out the MEC in real life so it is fair and i aggree upmost that they have equal weapons of sort in the game. I also agree with the unlimited ammo and health etc that medics and support have to give out. As it is just a 'game' i know. But my arguement stands for the tweaking the weapons. slightly just to make it fair in a differant point of veiw

I am very sorry my point is unclear. i am at work now and my boss is nudgeing me to work lol :P but i am glad you understand what i say.

And if you disagree like gav does or agree like josh still tell. me :)

and i will try the mod when i get home
