this aint bf1942 - you have to PAY for new maps buddy. EA learned from bf1942. people liked the free maps - so in BF2 - they made you pay for them.

or you could just not play ranked and download some custom maps....me personally i got the PRMM mod and its freaking awesome duuuude!

Yeah, not going to happen with EA. Look at the sims. Its the single-hand-edly the most popular game ever.... and its utter crap...

and do you know how many expansions are out for the game??? over 10!!!!

Its cuz, EA loves money. You want a new map.... well, lets make it $30... and we will throw in 2 vechiles and a gun.

But what really pisses me off is that they are seperating the players. Look at counter-strike. (which has no booster packs, or expansions).

you have 1000's of servers to choose to play from, cuz everyone is playing CS.

But with battlefield, our 1000's of servers are split into 4 groups. you have vanilla servers, special forces servers, euro servers, etc...

so it makes the game LESS popular.... but ea does not care, cuz they are reaping the benefits (money)

if you want to play custom maps so bad there are many mnay servers running custom maps, plus the numerous mods out with custom maps and vehicles.

the world doesnt end after ranked servers, If you want to play custom maps your going to have to learn that rank isnt sh*t and start playing on unranked servers

well, 1.4 has 1 new map. but seems to me i wont satisfy your hunger. so, ya, play unranked, got more maps and mods.

Why do you see a threat to move to another game a viable point that EA/DICE will listen to?

It seems to me that if you're seriously thinking of moving to a new game, then it woudln't be that big of a deal to move to an unranked server. It's not like Quake is going to share your BF2 rankings, whereas at least on the unranked server you can keep your stats, rank, and unlocks (if enabled).

And I don't get the analogy to CS at all as that's got to be the most modded game in history. CS itself is a mod and there are ****tons of maps out there. Now, it may feel more transparent because if you hop on a server that you don't have a map for, your client can just download the map straight from the server. But to argue there aren't dozens of modifications to the released game is simply not true and the CS community is no more homogenous than the BF2 community, and I would argue that it's actually less so.

Yes, money makes the world go around. But we just fall into the pit every time.Don't we fellow gamers.. and why? Is it becasue the EA maps are so good? Well no of course not. It's because we have a built in self image to uphold. STATS STATS STATS..... whether you like them or not stats are what keeps people coming back and making DICE the money.

Now of course when creating a booster pack,they will throw in a vehicle or 2 or maybe even a new weapon and a new badge but is that really the reason we keep returning and pay hard earned money for these small additions? No of course not. We could play better normal mod maps for free, vaster atmospher, larger scale etc... But many of us can not bring our selves to do this because we gain nothing from playing on unranked servers, do we? On ranked servers we gain , prestige, recognition, a feeling of self worth and the afterthought that we did not wast our day away. And why because we are bettering our online image.

Why do I understand this, because I too fall helpless to the advertising and developing genious of the EA/DICE team and in the end play only ranked servers and of course I buy the booster packs..............

I'm such a weeny.... I will go cry now...and play again later LOL.
