same problem here, and I have all the symptons described above, I will try the new PB file linked above and report back, hope it works!

R2D2 throwing a hissy fit is the best description for these sounds ive ever heard, that was hilarious dude. :laugh:

And that PB file seem to be the solutions going around the net...I have this problem and have read many-a-web page but I have yet to see if these work.

I had this problem right after I removed the payed to play line in the protocol box. I then re entered the payed to play line in there and now when the weird sounds start I am not affected in any way.

Holy crap, im so glad i found this thread. This crap has been driving my nucking futs!!!!!! I am ashamed that these forums are the last place i looked for info about this problem . I have tried ALL kinds of malarky to fix this....

Updated pb manually and still getting unbearable screeching in bf2 . latest drivers for everything. Tried incremental and full patches to no luck. Gives me the ****s this only happens in bf2 . Hard enough to stay motivated to play this game then this **** happens

EDIT: Fixed it i found out it was somthing to do with PB thanks guys for the help

The fix appears to have stopped the audio problems... but I think this recent update by PB screwed up some other stuff. The game will now just freeze up for about 15 secs, after that it says I have lost the connection to the server. I never see the "there is a problem with you connection" stuff on the screen at all.

Glad I found this thread, this problem was driving me crazy!!! I had installed a new version of the nForce drivers for my motherboard 2 weeks ago, just got around to playing BF2 since then. I thought this problem was the new drivers, uninstalled them, played... still had the problem. Reinstalled drivers, tried again, same problem. Reloaded this and that.. drove me nuts! I finally gave up on playing. I'll try that fix that was posted.

Hey deadboy does the sound for your guns stop because thats what happens to me it stops but i can hear the bullets hit things and like 4 5 min later i start getting bad noises and it sounds like my gun shooting then it will cut off and go into a beep i cant even explain it

yeah as soon as the noise started the sound for the guns would cut out.all the other sounds were fine though. i tried the fix and it works fine now. played all weekend with no problems.

ok. i tried the fix suggested here and seems to be ok now. i played all last night and a few hours today on a few different servers and no prob. before the sound happened quite frequently or didnt stop. it did make a weird sound for about a second or 2 when i played the first round after starting bf2 but never heard another noise and the the gun sounds have been fine. thanks for all the help. prob solved.

that happened to me...i figured out every time some one called me my fone would ring and my speaker would make a weird noise...that could be it..probably not tho...
