BF2 Crashing

I bought a new computer last November and bought BF2 in January. My game ran just fine until about May, no lag, no graphics problems whatsoever. Sometime in May (I dont remember when) my game just crashed and went back to the desktop.

It still does that to this day, even though I haven't bought any new hardware for my machine and I've tried several versions of drivers since then. I can play for about 5 minutes and everything runs just fine, then the game flashes for a second and I can play for a few more minutes and it will flash again. Eventually it just flashes and returns to my desktop. What's weird about it is I haven't changed anything on my computer that could've done this. Everything was the same as when it ran perfectly fine. I can play most other games well, except CS:Source. Maybe my graphics card just pooped out, even though I haven't had it a year.

My specs:

CPU: Pentium 4 CPU 3.2GHz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6200SE TurboCache
1GB of RAM

I hope you guys can help, I'd really appreciate playing a decent game of BF2 again.

Your graphics card is lame and overtaxed running BF2, upgrade it to a card with a 6 or higher number as the second digit (i.e. X1600, 7600, etc). If the second digit of a card is lower than a 6, its a budget card thats not very good for gaming.

thats 1.3 patch for you...and sum graphic problems, comp may not be able to run the detail settings you have on....it used to that with my old computer i put a couple settings on medium , btw i had the same video card on old computer, and it just pooped out to the desktop

I'll try with different detail settings and if it doesn't help i'll get a new graphics card. Thanks

Depending on the amount of cash you have you can buy a 7800GTX for about $200 (NEW/RETAIL). That will definitely give you a lot more of a boost.

I've been looking around and I can't find a 200 dollar 7800 but I have found a 7600 for 200 dollars. How much of a boost could I get off that?

Well, with a 7600 and another gig of ram you would be playing at highest settings smoothly.

I've been looking around and I can't find a 200 dollar 7800 but I have found a 7600 for 200 dollars. How much of a boost could I get off that?

Asus pays more to select higher quality GPU's, they make the best (argueably) cards.

I went to the store today and bought the card and memory but to my dismay i bought the wrong type of memory (stupid) and my computer doesn't have a sufficient power supply. Only 300 watts of output while the 7600 require 400 watts. I dont really want to spend 450 dollars just to play games although it sucks cause I've given EA 100bucks for a game I can't even play anymore..

The graphics card is fine for BF2 im running the slighly lower version of the guys same card the 6200 LE 256MB and I run with all settings on medium to high on singleplayer and medium/low on multiplayer with not one drop in perfect framerate except once in a blue moon flying a fighter.

Hey, have a look at Newegg, Zipzoomfly, and pricegrabber.com
These 3 places offer a lot of deals and reviews on products. I think you can probably end up spending
$100 for a 480W power supply and you can get a 1GB stick of a good ram for about the same.
If you want, give me the model and verison of your motherboard and I try to find you some deals.
