The Punish Button

Since the game BF2, came out then SF then other expansions I do not have. I can not figure out why EA will allow an "Punish" button in a game. The feature brings nothing but fustration and huge arguements. I seen a lot of foolish punishes for no reason. I know on MP gaming their are the crazies who like to bring chaos by tking. But this punish button, I dunno. For example: Ghost town, each side has a uncapable flag. Then one side takes all the flags and now getting massive kills on a uncapable flag. A team mate fires on enemy troops and fires rockets at tanks, then a team mate respawns in front friendly fire, gets killed. Then punishes. Seen punishes happen on team mates taking over by the enemy on a uncapable flag and it is chaos, panic shootings or friendly going in front of friendly fire. Then punishes on team mates like crazy. Or the helping team mate from enemy, but friendly ended up taking the bullet. Then get punished. Why? Then why have this feature? I have seen pretty nasty replies from team mates to other team mates from being punished. Those flares to dropping from helis, planes are a problem to. Fire on enemy aircraft and finding out while missle on its way to destroy the aircraft, but instead going for a flare. Next thing you know, you have punishes like crazy, and lots of neg points from a enemy flare. I don't understand why EA made this feature. This is a fast paced game, and I mean fast. And it is really difficult for anyone just starting out in BF2 to keep up with the pros. Then getting punished for the others stupity or game flaws.

Yea i agree, jst the other day i was punished wen a tank went ova a mine that i put dwn and a friendly troop was to close 2 it goin off! but on the other hand if there were no punishing would u see more TKin 4 vehicles? and then u would end up wid server wid FF off, would that be a beta thing?

Punishes are irrelevant to your score, so don't worry about them. The only thing a punish does is get you kicked faster than if you were forgiven, but even with every one of TKs being punished, you've still got to go some to get kicked from a server.

As long as your TKs are accidental and therefore infrequent, whether you're forgiven or punished doesn't make any difference. If you TK someone, apologise - regardless of whether it was their own stupidity (walking in front of you while you're shooting, driving over your clearly marked mine, whatever), or whether they've instantly hit the Page Down button to punish you before you get chance to say anything, apologise anyway. It helps to minimise the stupid flames that go back and forth. TKs do happen, and the smart players know it and will forgive it once or twice, especially from lower-ranking players.

I apologize if I get TK'd by somebody accidentally. I caused their score to go down, therefore I'm partially responsible. I always forgive unless I know they TK'd on purpose.

EA says, players have a right to punish or not, hence the rule added to the ROE, you cant turn TKpunish off

It is frustrating but a necassary evil. If it wasn't a feature then TK's for vehicles would go through the roof!!

pshh,i figured out how to get dem punishing noobs,u walk up to them,shoot them some,wait for them to kill u and BAM!punish...it will make ur rank go down ingame tho...
