Mic problems

Having an issue with my mic. I have just your basic microphone which works fine with windows sound recorder, but, BF2 wont pick it up when I try to test it. Anyone know why? BTW, I've also tried a higher-end mic and headset and had the same issue.

Do you have onboard sound?
Try updating your sound drivers.
