How to open *.dds files?

Hy (I'm new to this forum)

In the Battlefield directory there some files, which I'm not able to opne. So Irfanview says that these files must have the ending .dds but I can't open this files. You can find these files for example in the award-directory.
Is there anyone how could help me?

You have to have photoshop to use that plugin. You can get it from warez but I dont suggest it.

.dds files are the format that the textures come in, to open you either have to have Photoshop, or the gimp. The .dds plugin for PS is listed above, and Im sure theres one for the gimp aswell.

Also, the guys at Dice have renamed a lot of things to DDS. For example, the images that are Png's. Just rename them.

Yea, I'm pretty sure they're just PNGs with different extensions. My guess would be to try and mave a copy and change the extension to .png
