Not really good FPS with 7600gt.

I bought 7600gt last two days. I was expecting to get a better FPS with all high settings but when i turn on the settings, in 64 player map. i get about 20~40 FPS. Does anyone has this same problem?how do i fix this problem?

Make sure you have verticle sync turned off and are using the latest drivers. Delete all of the files in: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache to allow bf2 to reoptimise itself. Try turning down your sound settings as they could be slowing you up, and of course scan for viruses, spyware etc and defragment. I saw a bit of a peformance boost when i upgraded from 1.5 to 2gb of ram.

7600 should easily be able to run all high, it is more powerfull than my 6800 and I run all high, 4x aa and 1650 x 1050.

when you say latest driver do you mean 91.31 or 91.33 beta?

Re: Not really good FPS with 7600gt.

You went from an unlocked 6800gs to a 7600gt? That is not much of an upgrade at all to be honest.

A 6800 series when it came out represented the top tier of cards, the 7600's on day one is a mid level card.

Add to that equation that your GS is unlocked to GT speeds or better?...then your old card may actually outperform the 7600 in certain aspects/games, while the 7600gt may be better at different games than the one you tried it with.

I think your new card would be better in Oblivion for example, but not BF2.

The 7600's are somewhat crippled by their 128bit memory interface, whereas the 6800gs/gt has a 256bit. Of course they did this purposely so that the card wouldn't compete too closely with nVidias other higher products.

It is a great card, but generally speaking a newer models middle card is usually about equal to last models top cards. If you wanted to break from that scenario, then a 7800gt or 7900gt would have been the appropriate card.

Having no problems running the game on all high on my 7600GT, though I may set the graphics lower for an edge in gameplay. Only 15k away from my next rank and my last 2 unlocks.

Responses like this are useless without telling us the resolution you play, and what AA you use, if any. "All High" only suggests the settings which include the word "high" in them.

My "all high" is 6xAA for example, something the nVidia guys don't have unless they do it from the driver. So comparing the two without specifically mentioning it, is pointless. No offense.

Wow... 0.5GB ram upgrade and you get a performance boost... Wonder what I will get with a 1GB to 2GB dual channel upgrade and a 7600GT :)...

Are you talking about me? If so i dont have a 7600 and never said I did. Where did he say he had a 6800 before he upgraded?

And yes, my unlocked, OCed GS beats my old OCed GT(it broke and was replaced with the GS)

I did mix part of your response to his(OP) erroneously. He didn't mention having a 6800 as you pointed out.

But what I said is still true and informative :) Thanks for confirming it too.
