Cant find install folder?

For some reason lately everypatch i tried runing it starts the loading bar then an error comes up saying "Can't Find install folder for Battlefield 2(TM)"

Never hapaned before how do i fix such a thing. and im not reinstalling my game

like i know the game is there i checked counteless times. i dont get it

Did you rename the Battlefield 2 proggy from BF2.exe to BF21.exe or anything? If so, you have to change the name back before running patches.

nope i havent even touched the instlation folder since forever and its been working fine.

If all things are perfect, it may be the updater itself. You could try redownloading a new complete 1.3 from a different source and seeing if that works.

i tried, i even downloaded 1.4 and it said the same thing

If your clear line to the application is
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe

I'm completely lost. Sorry

I read about a fix for some that the registry install directory was messed up.

Try starting regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2

On the right side you should see:

InstallDir REG_SZ C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2

This is for a default install. If the "InstallDir" is empty or missing, then add it by clicking somewhere on the right side and select new, string value.

You may need to restart windows after this, but I do not know for sure since this does not change anything with the core OS.

Warning - All changes to the registry happen instantly, so if you change or delete something....its done. There is no undo. Once it is changed, it is changed.

Like I said, this just helped out some users with this error, but not all.

weird butt the BF2 folder doesnt exist in regedit. i know its there cause when i right click on BF2 icon >properties> find target it takes me there. but in regedit doesnt exist only Need for speed most wanted no BF2

Your only option is unfortunatley to reinstall...
