Wow, I thought my friends thought I was nuts. I've been trying to describe the sounds that I hear ingame, and that youtube vid is EXACTLY what I hear. Going to have to try the fix in #17, and hope it works for me too. Audigy 2ZS user here.

i used fix in post #17, ther are times i get a short screetch at the beg. of levels, but it goes away immediately. i suppose it's good enough for now

I did as #17 suggests, and it worked for me. Finally! Thanks! It was soooooooo annoying!

Have the same problem , i have a Creative Audigy. (i already posted in another topic that had sound related issues... but now that i found this one).
I'll try the fix that was put here early one. Hope it works, the weird thing is that in my case that sound isn't already heard, sometimes the map loads and it's goes smoothly one, but sometimes that sound doesn't stop till i disconect or sometimes after that noise everything goes blank and i can't hear anymore ingame sounds...
