this is what i just tried and it worked for me... YAY!

Note #2: I would like to work directly with you to narrow down the issue.
First: We have a new test PB Client ready which will hopefully help. Make a backup of your current pbcl.dll in the bf2/pb folder, and then replace the file with this one:

thats a quote from the guy at PB

I tried it and ANY time I tried to join a server it went CTD.

good lord! I'm glad im not the only one who has this problem and I also have SB audigy 2ZS. I'm a little hesitant about trying the pb thing.

Edit: It began during my match yesturday (Sunday) and I see that's when they auto updated a maintenace release. I hope they come out with an official fix soon.

                  Re: Sound problem

argh!!! I also have audigy 2 zs, and i get problems right away after entering a server, you know when PB checks HDD's. I then tried to manually update PB, and i was successful and now have the most current version, but the problem still persists.... i'm 100% sure it's PB since when I play single player, no errors occur, also no toher games/apps have htis problem for me (Doom3 example). stupid PB, ill try the fix listed in post 17 now

note: I tried the suggestion of post #17,and i was able to play for a few minutes without problem. I don;t have time to throughly try things to see if the problem has been elimianted 100%, but at least i was able to play BF2 without problem again.

I'm gonna try it... let you all know if it fixes my problems. Its just that I'm a bit cautious when it comes to changing punkbuster files.

Nothing will happen as the replacement file comes from PB themselves.

You're kidding right? Did you read the whole thread, or just that last few posts?

Try reading post #17, tells you exactly what to do.
