    ARGH!! Crash to Desktop

    Please Help!

I just bought BF2 Deluxe Edition (With expansion) today and I AM VERY VERY MAD. I JUST SPENT 50 BUCKS ON A GAME THAT CRASHES TO THE DESKTOP IMMEDIATLEY WHEN I HIT CONNECT TO A MULTIPLAYER SERVER. It doesnt even load - it just crashes immediately without error message.

    I can play singleplayer fine.

I don't know what to do... I completely uninstalled and purged my system of all my graphics and sound drivers and reinstalled twice with the latest and greatest drivers of ATI Catalyst and SB Live. That didn't help. I deleted all my backround apps using task manager-no help. I tried running the game windowed- no help. I tried highering the processing priority in task manager-no help. I tried running the game at bare minimum graphics and sound settings- no help. I tried shutting off hardware acceleration and turning off write combing- it doesnt even start the game and immediatley crashes.

I am completely clueless- please help.

Well, please post your system specs.

Also, have you tried installing any patches?

For some reason when I use the BF2 online icon my game crashed too, but when I use just the BF2 icon I can play. So I just deleted the BF2 online icon and I am good to go. Our system are similiar. Same cpu same sound card.

Nah, it doesn't matter what icon I use to start it up- I tried all 4 that are initially made by the game on the desktop, regular battlefield and expansion, I tried clicking directly on bf2.exe and i even made my own icon- no difference.

Well I think the deluxe edition comes fully patched since it came out 2 months ago. Anyways- the game doesn't complain that its not up to date so I think I'm fine in that respect.

          I'm running 1.1.2878-710.0

Should I try reinstalling the game?

Please any help? I don't want to take the game back to the store.

But is version 1.1.2878-710 the same as patch 1.3? Am I up to date on patching?

Also, would it help if I installed on safe mode?

1.4 is a beta only, dont install it.
