Can I downgrade Punkbuster somehow?

Using the 1.4 beta patch, theres a server running the new map 24/7, and it keeps kicking me because the server is using an older version of Punkbuster then I have, so it kicks me and says I need that version.

I'm running Punkbuster version A1365 v1.256, and it says I need v1.227 everytime it kicks me.

Probly nothing I can do about this right? Wait until they update on their end? But its one of the only 1.4 servers anyone is on right now and damit I want to play.

Download and install (for windows)

Once installed let it know you are interested in BF2.

Then update.

Should be good to go. Reading may be required.

Yea I use pbsetup already, and as I said I'm on a newer version then the server is.

Then the server needs to be updated. There must be something wrong with the server not updating as it should. The admin will need to force a pb update on the server.

But to answer your question, "no" you cannot downgrade PB.

I stand corrected about my earlier post. While searching another players problem, I found this:

Why does PB spam "PB Server running Old Version" on some servers and how do I make it stop?

Some PB Server admins are not able or willing to fix their firewall so that their PunkBuster server can keep itself always auto-updated to the latest version. Therefore, when a new PB update comes out, their server(s) will continue running the old version until updated manually. When players join a PB Server that is running an old version, that old PB will try to 'downgrade' each player's PB to match the old version running at that server and the "PB Server running Old Version" message is generated every few seconds during this process. We encourage players to avoid servers like this as PB often does not work efficiently nor catch the latest cheats when old versions are running. If the attempts to 'downgrade' your PB fail, then you will be kicked. If you trust the server admin, you can enter "pb_security 0" into your console to allow your PB to be downgraded. If you know how to get in touch with the admin, please let him/her know of the problems caused by not having a properly functioning / auto-updating PB Server.

But, I recommend just letting the admin know that the servers pb is not updating rather than downgrading your pb since to "trust the server admin" means that you already know him, in which case, just tell him he needs to update the servers pb instead.
